President Trump on Tuesday called for a "good shutdown" in September to fix the "mess in government.
"The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there! We
either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good "shutdown" in September to fix mess!" he wrote in a series of tweets.

Not just more R jerseys, either.
Coker, Flake, Hatch and Heller need to be replaced, they all voted for Rubio’s Gang of amnesty.
Alexander and Graham need to go in 2020.
McCain, Murkowsky, Hoeven and Rubio need to go in 2022.
If you keep re-electing amnesty supporters, you will keep getting amnesty attempts.
Why is it better to push the inevitable battle out till then?
What is gained?
I know what's been lost: momentum, support from the base, and integrity.
This is a rancid PR loss and is very bitter to those who have supported this admin.
Rome wasn’t shutdown in a day.
He already shot a blank threatening a shutdown last week—and then signing on to a Democrat budget.
Jared and Ivanka I am sure are happy.
The final straw causing the collapse of the Soviet Union was ... the government failed to issue paychecks to bureaucrats. There was no more money; everyone went home, nobody came back. Can’t run a government without anyone to run a government.
A shit down only sends home nonessential folks. Find out who those are and fire them
No more Republicans. EVER.
They are the scum on the pond and they lie, lie, lie
to Americans.
Pres. Trump has abandoned his voters by allowing
Ryan and the RINOs to IMPOSE ObamaCARE (now TrumpCARE)
yet again -— with them EXEMPT.
A lion taunted and poked will eventually turn to pounce and bite. Trusting in the judgement of DJT; here, silence is offered.
Jon Ossoff’s body double and The Turtle don’t have the spine for it
Wait till September, craft a good budget and force the GOP to end the filibuster.
Well, if Duterte accepts Trump’s invitation to the WH, Trump could get a few pointers on how to deal with the opposition - or not. just spitbsalling.
Trump needs more of his people confirmed by the Senate, to replace Obama holdovers, before he can afford to deal with a shutdown.
Not buying it. Ryan just spit in his/our face and he says well OK I’ll get tough in 5 months. The rats are celebrating and fund raising off of Ryan’s kiss. Hell the CR even says there can be no future funding for the wall.
He should be talking about a veto instead of sending spicer
out there to spin it. I am just disgusted by all of em.
Timing might factor into this?
Trump doesn’t have his people all in place yet at the agencies. Still lots of swamp critter holdovers. Might need those eyes to really scour and find the areas to cut.
Also, this does give his team time to prepare the political battleground before October.
What I don’t know is if the annual budget in October has a better structure for passage via reconciliation (51 Senate votes) as opposed to this bill which *perhaps* due to non-budget things in it is subject to filibuster? Have no clue.
I’m going to hold off on being too critical and see what we get on health care and taxes this summer, but I can’t disagree with any poster that is very angry and wants a fight right now.
LOL. And when would be the good time to draw a line in the sand?
Two shutdowns in one Calendar Year is fine with me. Congress just wants to enjoy their excessive recesses.
Maybe they called a meeting in a cornfield in Wisconsin...............
The likely process in September is that negotiations will be up against the deadline, so there will be another CR, probably followed by another and then either a bill or a long term CR passed sometime around Christmas. We’ve been down this road before.
