Hollywood is dealing with strike fever again, 10 years after the Writers Guild of America staged an acrimonious 100-day work stoppage.
The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations and the NFL Players Assn. both issued strong statements of support Thursday. AFl-CIO President Richard Trumka cited WGA estimates that the major entertainment conglomerates made $51 billion in profits last year.
The members of the Writers Guilds deserve a fair return on their work at an incredibly profitable time for their industry, he said.

They can read and write?
Oh dear - does this mean an end to remakes of tv and film?
I hope they strike. Who watchers their junk anyway? It would opstop a portion of the propaganda machine.
But I remember a writer’s strike that became the birth of the Reality Show and Survivor was born. How do you put in a TV show w/o writers? Put a bunch of dopes on an island and whack one of them every week- Brilliant! Entertaining low cost TV
So writers - strike and shoot yourself in the foot like the PATCO air traffic controllers
How much has Trumka made? What do his tax returns look like?
Hollywood on strike? Best thing that can happen.
Some new writers, non union, should make a horror movie about a fat conservative who spends most of his time from work (hell even at work) on a conservative site called Free Republic. (any resemblance to the writer is spot on :))
He gets inundated with the true nature of democrats, sees through them and knows they are all low level demons, and morphs into a 400 pounds avenging, yet hungry, hero. :)
Captain Conservative vs. The Demonrats
I would like it if theyou re-released movies instead of remade them.
Are they going to wake up after this "job action" and find out that between their propagandistic garbage writing and pre-adolescent antics, anybody that still watches TV has moved to the retro channels?
That way, they can showcase the best of the best of the best, and make the networks bleed red ink with envy?
Trumka & Co has a news company...deep state media.
The only difference is, instead of not watching what Hollywood puts out, I’ll not watch what they don’t put out.
I don’t think I would notice.
Oh, no, the sky is falling!
Work stoppage in Hollywood would actually be a good thing for our culture.
Same here.
LOL!
They’re threatening to shut off their cultural sewer pipe.
With the no talent trash coming out of hollyweird, how would we know?
we watch Metv (throwback shows) and reruns....hardly anything excites us so much that we couldn’t get along just fine with the old stuff, that, and playing rummy, sequence,cribbage,etc....
