The student government of the University of Wisconsin-Madison unanimously passed a divestment resolution targeting companies operating in many countries that included an amendment specifically about Israel, JTA reported Thursday.
The resolution, which passed Wednesday by the Associated Students of Madison by a 24-0 vote with two abstentions, calls on the university and its foundation to divest from companies involved in private prisons, arms manufacture, fossil fuels and border walls, and banks that oppress marginalized communities.
The vote comes a month after a divestment resolution specifically targeting Israel failed to pass the student government and two weeks after the student government passed a proposal to create a new financial transparency and ethics subcommittee, according to JTA. That meeting was held April 12, the second day of Passover, when several Jewish representatives were absent.
Wednesdays resolution uses language brokered between Jewish student leaders and the authors to target unethical corporations in more general terms without attacking Israel. However, during the open forum discussion prior to the vote, some students called for the one-page resolution to be amended to include specific countries and issues, the Daily Cardinal student newspaper reported.

Better returns for the rest of us.
They need to ban Student Loans. SLs are academic slavery.
Why does the word ‘Madistan’ come to my mind when I read this? James Madison, a principal author of our US Constitution, must be spinning in his grave!

FATHER GOD,
Forgive us for allowing godless teachers and professors to poison the minds of our young people. May Your SPIRIT fall upon our schools and universities. Open their eyes and ears to the truth. Where the SPIRIT of the LORD is, there is freedom!
In JESUS’ Name we pray. Amen.

When are they going to pass a divestment of America?
Maybe they should put the money in Federal Reserve notes that will fund Donald Trumps agenda.
Amen.
Since Intel is probably used in their server farms, research computers and every computer used by students and faculty, they should really divest all their computer systems./sar
Much of Intel’s key design work is done in Haifa.
So when they hand out fewer need-based (I needs dat) scholarships because the endowment earns less, they’ll raise tuition on people who work and pay taxes. Universities and their wealth redistribution schemes suck.
“The student government of the University of Wisconsin-Madison”........
I stopped reading right there. I live just to the north of that communist infested “institution of higher learning”.
Please refer back to Post #6.
PS....Please DO NOT judge all of Wisconsin by Madison, it’s communist professors and idiot students. There needs to be a fence around the entire city, its definitely a “zoo”
Well, THIS has kind of come full circle. Back in the 1960’s, when I was an employee on the campus there, the campus radicals were all Jewish kids from New York, who came to the Madison campus because it was a “party school” for them. Because I had frequent direct contact with them, I was well aware of their attitudes and what were, frankly, prejudices.
They widely embraced the Soviet line in just about every particular, and were against the Viet Nam war because it was “unjust”, i.e., the US was trying to prevent establishment of Communist government over ALL of Viet Nam at the time, but it was also the days of Kennedy, and the South Vietnamese were supposed to institute an “ethical” government. This in the middle of a war. When Ngo Din Diem was assassinated in 1963, there was wild cheering among these campus radicals of the time, but one may only now try to imagine the huge wave of grief that swept these same radicals when JFK himself was assassinated scarcely a month later. And when it turned out the presumed assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald, was a Communist sympathizer, these kids literally fell ill.
Talk about a god that died. But the spirit was quickly reignited when it was concluded that the “wrong people” had been in charge of bringing socialism to the masses, and that is perhaps about the time that allegiances were being switched to “get rid of the Shah of Iran”. The fervor was merely relocated from Communism to Islam, and since the Shah was much too secular for their tastes, the Shah had to go. It took nearly fifteen years, but the effort was successful, and that set in motion the resurgence of the radical left, now as supporters of Islam, which in many ways, resembles Communist Socialism doctrine, but includes a “religious” element.
And the “religious” element is what is so anti-Israel in this whole mess.
How does post 6 tar all of Wisconsin with the same brush as Madison? I’m not seeing that.
Put it in passbook savings and be done with it.

Hope that answers your question.
Federal funds should not go to education institutions that join political agendas; it should also be a breach of their “tax exempt” status as an EDUCATION institution.
I don’t see a problem in praying for communists to be freed from their delusion.
Did you think this was aimed at Jews? I don’t see that it is.
