Maxine Waters: ‘92 L.A. Rebellion Was A ‘Defining Moment’ For Black Resistance
The Huffington Post's Black Voices ^ | April 27, 2017 | Taryn Finley

It’s been 25 years since the Los Angeles rebellion, but Rep. Maxine Waters remembers it like it was just yesterday.

The California Democrat was traveling on business when Rodney King was brutally beaten by LAPD officers on March 3, 1991. She told HuffPost that she remembers watching the footage from her hotel bed.

“I sat straight up and all I could say, ‘Oh, my god! Oh, my god! Look at this,’” Waters said. She and black Americans across the country shared the same outrage.

King, who was pulled over after a high-speed chase with the LAPD, was released from jail without being charged. But black people’s anger increased as they witnessed the 17 cops who did nothing but watch as their colleagues beat King walk free. The residents of Los Angeles reached their boiling point on April 29, 1992, however, when a mostly white jury acquitted the four white cops who assaulted King. That is when the city rebelled....

It was a defining moment for Reginald Denny also.

I had a good friend who’s picture of him in full riot gear became the picture of LAPD holding the line on the front page of the L.A. Slimes.

Maxine Waters is completely out of her mind on this one.

I'd say she's out of her mind on all of it.

It’s highly appropriate that the Worst of the Worst would elect Maxine Waters to “represent” them for decades

If the shoe fits . . .

The California Democrat was traveling on business when Rodney King was brutally beaten by LAPD officers on March 3, 1991. She told HuffPost that she remembers watching the footage from her hotel bed.

What kind of "business" would this useless uneducated, untalented useless piece of garbage, Maxine Waters, have in 1991?
A BA in an unidentified subject from a So. CA JC could not have prepared her for a 30 year career in Federal government; or perhaps it does, depending on your view of the current state of dystopian U.S Society.

If she watched the Rodney King incident on TV, as the basis of her knowledge of the event, she is probably still misinformed and ignorant.

The deserved beating King got was just the last 5 or ten minutes of a PCP-crazed path of mayhem and destruction he inflicted on 15 or 20 cops, whose injuries are never mentioned.

The "Rodney King" beating video was shown 35,814 times the first week, 24/7. Over the next year, it must have been shown another 450,802 times.

King won the Black Thug lottery to the tune of $3,800,000, and he drowned in his own swimming pool in 2012.

I remember it very well. A friend of mine was a pilot for Braniff at the time and flew into LAX during the riots. ATC sent him out over the ocean for a long final approach to land at LAX. When he got on the ground, he found out the rioters were shooting at planes approaching LAX.
GHWB could have put a stop to it by calling out the National Guard, but didn’t have the courage to do it.

I watched the documentary “Lost Tapes - L.A. Riots” on the Smithsonian. There is plenty of video out there. I almost threw up when I watched what they did to Reginald Denny. Those riots were worse than you remember.

I remember it very well, thankyouverymuch.
The one thing I do notice is that the $1,500,000,000,000 of public and private property damage the two-legged animals caused is never mentioned in the MSM record, even in passing.

Also of note is the Korean business neighborhood defended by Koreans saving their property and livelihood with rifles, from their business rooftops.
Were that to happen today, the victims would be prosecuted for defending themselves from the black thug mob, adding insult to injury.

I just heard on the Radio News today about the Area where the riots were, they have Not Recovered Economically in ANY measurable way since then. Businesses just don’t want to chance it.

That number should be mentioned any time the topic of reparations is brought up. And mention the costs of various other riots as well. Watts, celebrations after sporting events, political demonstrations getting out of hand, etc. I’m sure there are countless other examples of destruction and mayhem. Perhaps Maxine Waters can tell us all where the money will come from to settle up those reparations.

One of the hallmark symptoms of dementia is that the patient remembers things that happened in the distant past but does not remember what they had for breakfast. Old Maxie is just one brain cell away from turning into a turnip.....

I think it came out that King was on PCP. I knew a guy that worked in the county jail and he told me that guys on PCP are like supermen and you have lay it on them to calm them down.

Your post #47.

The "Rodney King" beating video was shown 35,814 times the first week 24/7.

As I watched the television coverage, it seemed that the press had a pathological desire to bring about violence. Anyone with any experience in the media surely must have known that it was criminally irresponsible. Sure, go ahead and show the whole scenario to be up front. They kept on and on until all hell broke loose. No, they wouldn't even show the mitigating circumstances that brought on police action.

As for Reginald Denny, the innocent truck driver hauled from his rig and stomped. Very little of this was shown. Rush Limbaugh used to refer to one of his attackers as "Football Williams". I believe this brutal man eventually got life for another crime.
