United Airlines Passenger Was Violent in Removal, Police Report Says
The New York Times ^ | April 25, 2017 | Jonah Engel Bromwich

Posted on 04/26/2017 7:44:23 PM PDT by SarahPalin2012

Newly released police documents claim that Dr. David Dao, the passenger who was shown being dragged off a United Airlines flight on April 9 in widely shared videos, behaved violently toward the officers removing him, but his lawyer dismissed this account as “utter nonsense.”

The phone videos taken by other passengers set off waves of criticism and multiple statements from the airline, each more apologetic than the last.

The police reports were released Monday afternoon in response to a freedom of information request filed by The New York Times and other news organizations. The releases included audio of the original call to the Chicago Department of Aviation police, personnel reports about the officers and an incident report that appeared to blame Dr. Dao for his own injuries.

Please do this next time...if you are on a flight which is overbooked, and your seat is selected by random lottery to be given up....start a physical altercation with the authorities by grabbing on to the arm rest of the seat and refuse to leave. But do not say I did not warn you to avoid disobeying the authorities. May be you need a free extraction of a couple of bad teeth.

A, being Dao planned to be seriously injured, which would have been the only way to break more than even—with that being a longshot—under the circumstances.

B, Dao didn’t want to be injured, and therfore wasn’t attempting any kind of scam.

Take your pick.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
No thanks. Instead I will pick C. Dao wanted to create an altercation and be forcibly removed, kicking and screaming, from the plane. And of course that is just what happened. What he didn’t anticipate (and the security agents probably didn’t either) is what commonly happens in physical altercations: PEOPLE GET INJURED.

The CEO doesn’t care about the money Dao may or may not get he’s concerned with the millions of dollars of lost bookings if he doesn’t get ahead of this story and reassure future customers that this will not happen again.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Perhaps you’re right about the CEO’s strategy, but I seriously doubt that lost bookings over this story will amount to much, because 99.99% of UA customers have never had such problems and have never seen anyone else have such problems.

Two problems. One, you have no earthly idea what a physical altercation is.

Two, you have no conception of what’s in United’s ToS or what comprises the federally mandated rules for Common Carriers. It matters fundamentally, and since you don’t know you need to find out. It would change your POV completely.

Also, bear in mind that the three suspended thugs lacked the ability to make arrests. Plus, after their shHe was trying to enforce justice with physical altercationameful performance in the Dao matter, they’ll no longer even be allowed on planes—a change that couldn’t come quickly enough.

Sans injury, there was no scam. If an uninjured Dao had tried to sue the airline, his legal fees would have exceeded any money he *might* have won. He’d have likely lost that lawsuit, however, so ALL he’d have gained is a massive legal bill—which is hardly anything that could be called a ‘scam.’

Nothing you’ve said here, even if it were completely true, constitutes any evidence whatsoever in regard to whether or not Dao was engaging in a scam. And your first sentence is an obvious non sequitur.

You apparently have no idea what a scam is. Are you using the word to mean, ‘Rack up huge legal bills with nothing to show for it,’?

If not, what specifically was the scam?

Told you it would never see a jury. Settled out of court for and undisclosed amount.

I never stated that there was a scam. What I’ve been saying is that, in my view, the doctor saw an opportunity to capitalize on the request to relinquish his seat by simply refusing to do so, and he thereby triggered an altercation that became physical. In other words, it was his INTENTION, in my view, to perpetrate a scam by suing the airline. Of course neither I nor anyone else can know with certainty what the man was thinking, and therefore I admit that I could be mistaken, as you will no doubt agree.

You’re just not making sense. You can’t scam an airline by refusing to deplane. No jury would award you squat for that. You get nothing for screaming (after the security guards are involved) either, and you certainly get nothing for holding onto your armrest. None of this would have created a situation ripe for even a small, nickel-and-dime scam.

Dao is in the money for one reason: the three thugs inflicted serious bodily harm on him. This isn’t something he could possibly have wanted, and still less could he have foreseen it. By all accounts, all he wanted was to remain quietly in the seat he’d paid for, and to get home on time.

The scam theory just doesn’t survive scrutiny. You’ve never explained how it was supposed to work. If you can’t even describe the intended scam, then the idea is a nonstarter.

I can’t really discern whether you’re as dense as your comments indicate, or you simply enjoy prattling on about the matter, but in any case you’re really starting to bore me, and I have other things to do. So if it will satisfy your simple-minded ego, I’ll toss you a bone. You win the argument and everything I’ve said is wrong and everything you’ve said is correct. NOW GO THE FUCK AWAY AND LEAVE ME ALONE.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Yes, that’s exactly what I said. But nowhere will you find that I stated there WAS a scam. I believe he is a scammer and acted as he did with the intention of scamming the airline. If you cannot understand the difference, perhaps you ought to find someone to help you with your comprehension problems.

Yeah, you’re right. If only I had a saw up here, I’d saw it off just to please you! In any case, I still believe the good doctor is a scammer, and a good one too. Just look at how, in the final analysis, he has scammed that airline, probably for millions of dollars, and all it cost him was some unexpected dental work!

You sound like a DUer. What’s your moonbat handle?

Btw, you argue like a liberal /prog/Leftie too. When you can’t answer the simplest, most obvious and basic question, you start screaming F-bombs. Liberals do this because it’s all their limited intellects can come up with.

If the shoe fits...and it certainly appears to.

You haven’t asked such a question, but if and when you do I will be happy to respond. By the way, speaking of handles, your screen name perfectly describes your penchant for posting all sorts of drivel that you mistakenly believe to be intelligent commentary. Fantasywriter indeed!

I asked you the same simple, polite and straightforward question several times. You couldn’t answer, so like any good liberal you screamed the F-word.
