Middle America wants to pop a beer and listen to sports talk, they don't want to be lectured about why Caitlyn Jenner is a hero, Michael Sam is the new Jackie Robinson of sports, and Colin Kaepernick is the Rosa Parks of football. ESPN made the mistake of trying to make liberal social media losers happy and as a result lost millions of viewers.

Hard for me to acknowledge a Tennessee fan being right but he's right.

Socialists ruin EVERYTHING they touch...and they seem to have to touch EVERYTHING!
I agree, he does nail it.
Disney owns 80% of espn. Their suits have no clue how to run espn. It is all California NYC mindsets.
Hillary supporters don’t watch sports.
ESPN suits voted for Hillary
ESPN suits don’t watch sports.
sad for the Walt Disney legacy and history.
Payback for firing Rush Limbaugh.
Progressive ESPN CEOs: It was worth it.
I don’t watch much sports and I never watch sports talk. I turn the sport sound off and watch the game. Sportscasters have nothing to add unless they report play by play. Interviews with coaches and players are a string of stupid statements. Like we did our best or the defense was not as good as the offense
Sports networks that get political pay the price........
Funny to listen to the local radio in Ct talk about how the reason is, “viewer choices have changed”.
No.wrong responce, viewers are sick of the political BS out of Sports Readers mouths.
Good I hope they go under and take there Gazilion dollar complex with them.
I’m not sure how right he is.
I think it had more to do with the de-bundling of cable services and ESPN now being carried as a Premium Channel by most providers. In addition to that, ESPN is offered at an exorbitant rate compared to other Premium Channels.
For instance, if you were paying $20 a month for let’s say, channels 30-45 and one of those channels was ESPN, $6 of that $20 was because of ESPN. De-bundle that and go to ala carte pricing and millions of people that have NO interest in ESPN regardless of what they were talking about, dropped the channel.
It hurt Disney’s stock price the exodus was so great. Now, couple that with what the author mentions too, and I’m sure it plays a part. But I think $$ is the biggest factor.
I know refer to pro football as THUG BALL
I love this column. Thank you for posting - I’m going to be following this site from now on.
Maybe if they had stuck to sports instead of...
Next up, scores, but first we will have a one hour special on Trump is bad, mmmmmmkay, followed by gay gay gay gay gay gay, and then 300 lb men with skull fractures wearing pink tutus to bring awarness to the apparent one and only form of cancer on earth.... And dont forget the bruce jenner is the most swell person ever to breath hour, followed by another Trump is bad, mmmmmkay...then prayers to our lord and savior Obama.

Sums it up. The insanity that leftists/liberals bring is truly off the charts.
Die, ESPN, die.
It came along when there were no sports channels. Hence, it attracted a huge audience at the beginning so there was a natural drop off as the novelty wore off. But it was soon apparent that it would turn left. When Limbaugh was kicked off it became clear what it was, just another liberal channel.
I rarely watch specifically because I have contempt for the network whose hosts are profoundly stupid.
Good riddance.
And they paid very handsomely for rights to broadcast various sports. Probably overpaid.
John Skipper, the current President, is a UNCheat alum. What a surprise.
Crapple Hill is a liberal cess-pool.
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
