Fox News led all of its cable news competitors in the ratings Monday night as Tucker Carlson debuted to strong viewership numbers in his first night in the 8 p.m. time slot formerly commanded by ousted anchor Bill OReilly. Monday nights episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight drew an average of 3.2 million viewers and 636,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, beating all other cable news programs in the 8 p.m. hour in both total viewers and the key demo, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In demo viewership for the night, Fox News averaged 582,000 viewers while MSNBC drew 424,000 and CNN got 328,000. In total viewership, Fox drew an average of 2.8 million viewers, while MSNBC lagged far behind with 1.8 million and CNN failed to reach the million-viewer mark, according to the Wrap.
Carlsons numbers stack up favorably with OReillys final Monday broadcast last week, when the one-time ratings king drew 3.7 million viewers and 635,000 viewers in the key demo.
OReilly departed Fox News last week after an investigation into numerous allegations of sexual harassment against the anchor.
Carlson kicked off his Monday night broadcast which featured interviews with Caitlyn Jenner and former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe with a message addressing OReillys departure.

We couldn’t watch Jenner either. Flipped the channel around, settled on drag racing and wouldn’t you know it, Jenner shows up there too!
Exactly.
I quit watching FOX several years ago, but my husband DVRs quite a few of the shows. He recently got me to watch Tucker with him, and I have been impressed.
Then, he decides to interview that freak Bruce Jenner. Why feed into his mental illness? Disgusting. Neither of us watched Tucker last night.
I watched *in spite of* the freak, certainly not to see that sick fvck: I Tivo'd it, and skipped that whole segment - adverts and all!
Sounds like fake news big time to me!
O’Reilly would never have had that freak show.
HOGWASH !
Rumor has it that Bill Reilly will be on One America News Network nightly @7PM with a new show, “O’Reilly’s Way”. Stay tuned...
Where does one watch One America News Network? I don’t care much for BOR, but I do think that this was just a move from Soros/Media matters etc. to take down news that doesn’t conform to their idea of truth, so I might want to start watching another network anyway.
I watched O’Reilly for the segments featuring Dennis Miller. Bernie Goldberg and Jesse Watters.
The guests like that brought me in, not Ted Baxter.
I really like Tucker but could not get through the interview with Jenner. It is too much to digest. Hopefully he does well as I do enjoy his interviewing style.
Thanks for the link. We have dish, so I guess we can’t see it unless there’s a podcast later.
