Fox News led all of its cable news competitors in the ratings Monday night as Tucker Carlson debuted to strong viewership numbers in his first night in the 8 p.m. time slot formerly commanded by ousted anchor Bill OReilly. Monday nights episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight drew an average of 3.2 million viewers and 636,000 viewers in the 25-54 demo, beating all other cable news programs in the 8 p.m. hour in both total viewers and the key demo, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
In demo viewership for the night, Fox News averaged 582,000 viewers while MSNBC drew 424,000 and CNN got 328,000. In total viewership, Fox drew an average of 2.8 million viewers, while MSNBC lagged far behind with 1.8 million and CNN failed to reach the million-viewer mark, according to the Wrap.
Carlsons numbers stack up favorably with OReillys final Monday broadcast last week, when the one-time ratings king drew 3.7 million viewers and 635,000 viewers in the key demo.
OReilly departed Fox News last week after an investigation into numerous allegations of sexual harassment against the anchor.
Carlson kicked off his Monday night broadcast which featured interviews with Caitlyn Jenner and former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe with a message addressing OReillys departure.

Tucker Carlson is a rising star. He is smart, and prepares himself for challenging his guests. That’s a problem that Megyn Kelly hasn’t been able to master. If you get passed Kelly’s initial questioning, you’ve got her, but not so with Carlson.
Tuckers great but, the freak was the draw.
Last night wasnt as much a show of domination on TV, as it was a freak show for the mentally ill and gender confused!
I hope to heaven Tucker has gotten his Tinkerbelle Jenner for a guest business out of his system or his program is going to do a nosedive and SOON
If any FNC staffer can sway dems to our side, it’s Tucker.
I missed Tucker but I did see The Five and thought it was lame. Beckel was completely unprepared (or exhausted? IDK). The show jumped around with no real theme.
I just read an article about how well Madcow was doing. Homely that was short-lived.
I would add, “Despite having some unwatchable guy in drag on his show.”
I was able to watch the Five almost in entirety. However, Carlson’s guest had me rapidly switching to CSPAN. Bruce Jenner in drag speaking with a man’s voice was too much to bear.
I’m not impressed.
Once upon a time Tucker seemed like one the good guys, but since he’s got his own show he seems much more equivocal about what we on the Right consider non-negotiable traditional American values of freedom, the Constitution, and limited government.
He seems to be doing what Kelly was doing - taking what one would think was a friendly witness and turning them into a hostile witness by contenting with the point his “friendly” guest tries to make.
I’m not impressed with furrowed-brow Tucker and no longer watch him.
Watched it on 30 minute delay - I had to keep FFWD thru Bruce Jenner - it was just too creepy.
He now has nothing but a stupid FREAK SHOW!
Are you his mother or his agent?
I lost respect for him when he agreed to feature the dickless freak on his first program.
Tucker’s a rising star? He’s been around for decades....has lucked out with a sweet time slot.
Time will tell if he can maintain ratings.
I, for one, removed his show from my DVR lineup.
Opinions are like...
Skipped Tucker last night BECAUSE of the freak
So 1/5 of Tucker’s audience is in the big 25-54 age group. If 1/5 were under 25, which is unlikely, then 3/5 or 60% are over 55+. So which age group does an advertiser market to?
Rumor has it that the freak was scheduled with Bill O...and Tucker was forced to take it on
Not sure if I like Tucker... Giving up on Fox news..
