I am a Carl Sagan fan from way back. His 1980 TV miniseries Cosmos hit me at just the right age and inflamed a lifelong love of science. But weve had nearly 40 years to assess the long-term effects and see how Sagan unwittingly contributed to a trend that muddled public understanding of science. This weekends so-called March for Science is a perfect example of what went wrong.
All you really need to know about the March for Science is that it is scheduled for Earth Day. The organizers may say the march is nonpartisan and has a variety of goals, but its mostly just about global warming. Its not just about whether global warming is actually happening, or whether it is caused by human activity, but about a specific political program for dealing with global warming.
To be sure, there are other goals involved in the march and some contention, even among the organizers, about the extent to which the march should embrace causes like diversity. So the goals run the gamut from the left to the far-left. And thats the problem. The March for Science is an attempt to equate the Lefts political goals with Science Itself, claiming the intellectual and moral authority of science for the Lefts agenda.
You can see why they would want to do that. . . .

He was a big stoner.
Erf Day is a celebration of Lenin’s bERFday.
I’ve learned to treat those who are most vocal about “objectivity” with suspicion. <<<
Lol...objecttivity!...ask them to name the 3 sexes...Give them the 1st two free...
A. Male
B.Female
C.(its a pass or fail question)
I like to tell folks about Erf Day’s founder Ira Einhorn. He murdered his girlfriend and kept her body in a trunk in his closet for a couple of years. When the police were about to search his house he took off for France and lived there because France refused to extradite him when they thought he might be facing a death penalty in America. He was a model progressive.
Carl Sagan started his career when nearly scientists “agreed” the earth was cooling and a new ice age was on us...
And it seems scientists that take government grant money all agree that the only solution to any problem is bigger and bigger government, more and more regulations and higher and higher taxes...
I just saw thousands of conformists marching. In a field like science that isn’t reassuring.
I remember that name from the old “America’s Most Wanted” show!
If it was a real march for science, they’d go in a circle. They’d observe, form an hypothesis, experiment, collect data, and match the data with the hypothesis. Instead they form a conclusion, skip the experimentation, ignore the data, and call anyone who disagrees anti-science.
David Suzuki and Bill Nye have done wonders for science too /sarc
[and kept her body in a trunk in his closet for a couple of years]
I’m trying to remember who it was on TV that celebrated “Earth Day” this year. Might it have been the Weather Channel? I can’t remember; I was skipping channels and there was some reference to it.
That guy’s story gives me the creeps. As they used to say, “A hangin’s too good fer ‘im.”
And a big atheist.
Actually, Philly police searched Einhorn’s stinky filthy apartment while he was there, and found the Holly Maddux corpse. Although an obvious murderer and psychopath, Einhorn was given a very modest bail with the help of his attorney, ARLEN SPECTER.
His 10% bail bond was paid by a leftard Seagram’s heir in Canada. Then just days before his murder trial he fled the country.
We are The Global Warming Inquisition! /monty python
“And a big atheist.”
Yeah. Goes hand in hand.
Who could forget the wonderful Jodie Foster movie that was dedicated to Carl Sagan? (Contact)
And based on ..... well ..... absolutely no proof at all.
But they did record 18 hours of static ..... so .....
Apparently Mr. Unicorn is doin’ time here in the US now.
[ARLEN SPECTER]
Shirley, surely you must be joking.
Oh my gosh.
I can see billions of stars from my house....
