Erf Day is a celebration of Lenin’s bERFday.
I like to tell folks about Erf Day’s founder Ira Einhorn. He murdered his girlfriend and kept her body in a trunk in his closet for a couple of years. When the police were about to search his house he took off for France and lived there because France refused to extradite him when they thought he might be facing a death penalty in America. He was a model progressive.
It’s no coincidence that the first Earth Day was held on Vladimir Lenin’s 100th birthday.
I was in San Francisco for the first “Erf Day”. I still remember all the hippies driving to Golden Gate park, spray painting graffiti on the fountain, and leaving all their trash when they left.
