Erin Moran who famously played Joanie Cunningham on "Happy Days" and its spinoff "Joanie Loves Chachi" has died ... TMZ has learned.
We're told authorities in Indiana got a call just after 4 PM ET Saturday from someone reporting an "unresponsive female." EMT's arrived and found Erin Moran's body ... she was already dead.
Moran shot to spotlight in the early 70s when she was cast on "Happy Days" as Joanie, the younger sister of Ron Howard's character. She continued the role in 1982 alongside Scott Baio in "Joanie Loves Chachi" but the show only lasted one season.

RE:”
Erin had a tough time after her “Happy Days” stardom ... a combination of drinking and bizarre behavior that eventually landed her in a trailer park in Indiana. She had run out of money and was reportedly kicked out of the mobile home she shared with husband Steve Fleischmann.” And I recall her attacking Scott Baio (who had some success) on Howard Stern's TV show because of frustration with her own life.
Not pretty, not even a good actress.
No planning.
Just another sad story.

I was afraid that she might end up like this.
Prayers for Erin.

She was a fairly ugly child on happy days who started to become sneaky hot. As a teen, I kind of had a crush on "Joanie" during the Happy Days era. The timing was right, I guess...

Hold on. I’m Irish, and these hateful stereotypes get a little old. Nobody in my family even knows what liquor tastes like, not even wine. We don’t drink and we never will.
Erin Moran had her own problems, which had nothing to do with her heritage. There’s no need to drag an entire ethnicity of people through the mud while commenting on her poor choices.

I find it disappointing that Howard and Winkler, with their millions, couldn’t help her out any?
Where was the love liberals? Oh taxpayers are only on the hook for that.

I can’t say I knew much about Erin the actress outside of the occasional tabloid stories, but I did like the character she played in Happy Days.

Erin Moran, 56, was born in Burbank, California, and is of Irish descent. She was living in a trailer park in Indiana with her husband, Steve Fleischmann, who was around 8 years her junior. Her net worth at death is an estimated $100 thousand in the negative. Her husband had been working at the local WalMart to try to make ends meet.
She was haggard and looked aged beyond her years, and along with her history of drugs and alcoholism, she couldn't get work in show biz.
She had a very sad life after her acting gigs dried up, and it's really TOO sad to delve into.
May this troubled soul rest in peace. We will remember her always as the bouncy, bubbly, smiling little gal in "Happy Days", which were, in effect, her Happier Days.

Maybe they tried. Maybe she was too embarrassed to let them know how bad off she was.
