A gunman "randomly" opened fire Thursday morning on Laclede Gas employees working in the city's Hamilton Heights neighborhood, killing two before shooting and killing himself, police and a witness said.
The shooting was reported about 11:16 a.m. in the 5900 block of Minerva Avenue, on the western edge of the city.
Police said two Laclede Gas workers, one in his 20s and the other in his 50s, were fatally injured when the gunman "randomly" fired at them, according to St. Louis Police Capt. Mary Warnecke. The gunman then killed himself, though that appears to have been at a different location.

I want no less than to be able to walk into a gun store in NYC and buy what I want by 2020.
It’s not a city decision. It’s not a state decision. It’s not a FED decision.
The decision was made a LONG time ago!
If the media says “RANDOM”.....it isn’t random.
lets face it....there are a lot of looney vets out there....many loons join the service, stay loons, and come out as looney or more....
it doesn't make me feel safer to know that ONLY these people get a free pass to carry.
That sucks. I thought it was a co-worker....so sad...
When attacked in a totally surprise fashion one can hope they miss with the first shot.
Utility workers are helping to destroy the planet, especially when fossil fuels are involved. They are fair game.

I was one of four or five out of sixty in my company who qualified with a Garand at 200 yards in boot camp in 1962. We spent one day at the range, forty rounds for practice and then forty rounds to qualify. I had never fired a rifle other than a bolt action, seven shot, Remington Scoremaster .22 but I put fifteen out of sixteen in the bullseye at 200 yards firing prone and rapid fire. The one guy who outshot me was a fellow from New Jersey with coke bottle lenses and a genius IQ who looked like anything but a shooter. He said he learned by going to an NRA range with his father on weekends.
Connects with recent shootings...
(1) Gunman kills several persons while shouting ‘god is great’ in Arabic, AKA: ‘Allahu Akbar’ (not my current tagline)

(2) Gunman says he wants to kill as many ‘white people’ as he can.

My comparison was with most white hats I knew.

Time to make it happen sir
My thoughts, exactly. However, when I was Navy, we had to qualify on shotguns,M-16's, and 1911.45's yearly off the fantail. Still, my biggest respect goes out to infantry Marines and Army. They are the guys always in the suck. Marines are my favorite branch. Of course there are SEALs and Air Force ground spotters that are as capable, but they are few as compared to the grunts.
Plus, Coast Guard rescue divers are no slouches either. They may not face bullets or ied's, but they jump into the freezing waters in angry seas of the north Pacific to risk their lives for dumb asses who don't know when to head to port. They go through very intense training after boot and lose a swimmer every so often. The movie, The Guardian, gives a glimpse into the SAR unit training and rescues. Think about being a rescue diver jumping out by yourself of a perfectly safe helo into the the churning maelstorm below.
The above said, I give kudos to every specialty in the Armed Services from office clerk to SEAL. All have done their duty if honorably discharged.
All right wise one, is it north of Forest Park?
How far north of that area do you like to walk around?
Ambush is only half the problem.
The other half, and the one we can do something about, is being ready, and thinking that way.
There were two workers. They could have had a plan if they had the right mindset.

I’m in
I was suggesting that some younger, more reliable individual would establish it.
I’m afraid that I’m just not up to it.
“The other half, and the one we can do something about, is being ready, and thinking that way.”
I really wish I could get my kids on board with that. They just look at me like, “Poor old coot. Must be going senile.”
> G-d bless the shooter
whoa
