and Cheapest in VA.

And he doesn’t mention all the empty cigarette packs without a NYC tax stamp that NYC sanitation workers are finding at the NYC garbage dumps.

Great smuggling jobs big $$$$, they are bought in VA and trucked to NYC.

At $13 a pack, no one will buy NYC cigarettes. They will all be smuggled at a substantial profit, like the truck at the start of "Beverly Hills Cop". I'm happy to see the socialist lose that tax revenue.

They’re about $7.50/pack in northeast PA. That’s over $200/month people are burning merrily.

At $13 a pack, that is $4,725 per year for a pack a day smoker. A part time job just to fund smoking. Glad I never started that habit.

Years ago, my cousins from New Jersey would often come to visit us in North Carolina.

They would ALWAYS leave with their "holsters loaded".

How does conservatism, finally, win, throughout all of the worlds’ cities? Conservatism in cities that’s put into practice ends all of this pro-leftist garbage on all issues.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Wednesday that cigarette prices in the city would go up $2.50 to $13 which, de Blasio bragged, would be "the highest price in the country."

$13.00 US a pack?

And, in a sane world, BLM would be mobbing De Blahblahblah about Eric Garner.

Using the tele/microscope of history I can see once again the guidance of the ‘mob’. For them there is “YUGE’ money to be made in circumventing vice laws. There will always be people who want their booze, (Prohibition), and Cigarettes, drugs of all sorts.

The government makes their money off of taxes paid by the law-abiding. The mob makes it’s money off of those who want to ‘screw’ the government out of taxes. In the end it is the consumer of the vices of their choice who are the real losers.

Grow your own. If it’s legal to sell, then it’s legal to grow. The selling of bulk tobacco used to be controlled by tobacco base size, but they don’t do that any more.

Exchange the word “bread” for cigarettes and you see just how communist this bragging is.

Says Wikipedia:

The combined federal, state, county, and local tax on a pack of twenty cigarettes in the city of Chicago, in Cook County, Illinois, is $7.42, the highest in the entire country. The lowest rate in the nation is in Missouri, at 17 cents, where the state's electorate voted to keep it that way in 2002, 2006, and 2012.

Imagine buying cigarettes in Missouri and selling them in neighboring Illinois.

I wonder what he’ll raise taxes on after he has effectively put an end to smoking in his city?

I recall when a pack cost 10 cents, dollar for a carton.

I regret smoking, even after having quit for over 30 years I have a tinge of COPD.

Based on the proven health implications, I’d like to see the nation just get rid of tobacco altogether. I’ll likely get flamed for this, but tobacco smoking does represent a slow suicide for many, many people.

There is no easy solution, as tobacco will go underground just like alcohol did during Prohibition and like illegal drugs are now.
