The New England Patriots are the professional sports team most closely associated with President Donald Trump, so it was fitting that they were the first championship team to visit Trump in the White House. Many of them visited on Wednesday, anyway. Many others skipped the trip.
Perhaps the most awkward moment of a fairly routine speech by a president to a winning team including owner Robert Kraft presenting Trump with a No. 45 Patriots jersey and coach Bill Belichick giving him a helmet came when Trump mentioned receiver Danny Amendola for his fourth-down catch in Super Bowl LI.
Amendola was one of the players who skipped the trip. The fourth-down conversion conversion by Danny Amendola, where is Danny? Trump said, looking back to the players behind him for Amendola before apparently being told Amendola wasnt there. Way to go, Danny.
Trump seemed to go out of his way to avoid mentioning players who werent on the White House trip, which made the Amendola moment stand out. He praised Trey Flowers for a Super Bowl sack, but didnt mention Donta Hightower, whose strip-sack was probably the biggest play of the game. Hightower wasnt at the White House.
Trump mentioned lesser-known players like Matthew Slater, Nate Ebner, Marcus Cannon and the offensive line, but didnt mention James White, who scored the game-winning touchdown in overtime of the Super Bowl. White reportedly wasnt at the White House visit.
And, notably, Trump never mentioned quarterback Tom Brady, undeniably the teams biggest star. Brady didnt go to the White House, citing a family situation. Brady and Trump are friends, but Brady has avoided talking about Trump for months.

Rush who is good friends with Kraft seemed to know why Brady skipped out. He kept on saying I need to keep my mouth shut. Sounded like he knew it had nothing to do with his mother.
I understand she is ill, but then why didn’t Trump mention his MVP friend with the ill mother who can’t make the trip? Why does his wife Tweet about an ant-Trump protest at the same time the Patriots are at the White House? Maybe I’m wrong, but I feel like he thought it would be too controversial to be there publicly with Trump. He refused to ever publicly support his friend.
Like I said, Tyler Eifert of the Bengals is well known, not friends with Trump, went to Trump rallies, and publicly announced his support.
Sounds like supermodel wife jealous of supermodel first lady masquerading as need to spend more time with the family but I just make stuff up sadly most of the time it ends up being true
I don’t believe it was family reasons & I read on Rush’s site what he had to say. That confirms it for me.
~Why wait until the last minute when his Mom has been sick & it was only a half day presumably?
~Why did Trump not mention his “good friend” Tom Brady publicly, especially if Brady’s mother is sick? He was the MVP for cryin’ out loud.
~His wife hates Trump, told him he couldn’t discuss politics anymore, and Tweeted out anti-Trump march info at same time Brady’s teammates were visiting the White House.
If Brady didn’t go because he was afraid to be seen with Trump and/or to appease his wife, well, with friends like that, Trump doesn’t need enemies.
And just how many of these players are good role models for the youth of this nation. That should be a major focus. To trip or not trip to the White House is just plain silly.
If it wasn’t because of his mother, then what kind of role model won’t go see a friend because of public perception? Meanwhile, his wife is tweeting about an anti-Trump march. Rush Limbaugh is in the know and has indicated it’s not his mother.
Unless you felt the same the last 8 years. i can’t agree with you. Politics are ugly and only the strong survive. You have to have a stiff upper lip to take all the crap that is thrown at you. I also think you can’t praise those who didn’t go in 2015 (Tom didn’t) and then bash in 2017 when he missed again.
Maybe the House the Brady’s should be most concerned about attending is the Church House. Anti-trump activist wife sounds like a loony liberal to me. . . . a real role model there.
lol. Very funny but I doubt it 100 percent. You gave me a chuckle though.
She apparently deleted her Tweet after getting called out.
Rush doesn’t believe it was his mother, and since he’s apparently in the know, I think it was his wife.
For the record, Trump ardently defended him over Deflategate.
If it’s true that it’s not his mother and he was scared to go, then things will go back to the status quo for me - disliking Tom Brady as I had for many years prior.
His mom is bad enough off that Brady is missing the Spring camp so far. A first for him.
Sounds to me like Tom Brady is a fair weather friend and his wife, Gisele, is a bitch. I’m surprised he isn’t tired of her shit by now. You know it’s been said for every hot babe out there; there’s some guy tired of her shit.
To be fair; the same thing can be said for overly handsome guys too. Some call them pretty boys. I guess Tom Brady is one too.
It’s a shame Tom is so whipped. I expected more from a guy like that. He looks much smaller to my eyes due to this.
Tom Brady then said his wife said he can’t discuss politics.
...
If he divorces her he gets alimony.
Giselle is also jealous of Ivanka. Trump tried to set them up way back when but Brady didnt bite at the time.
I get an arrogant, “ my shit don’t stink”, vibe out of Bundschen. Ivanka come across as a decent person.
By golly, Ollie, I think you have it. Brady is no different from many other Trump supporters. We vote with our ballots, not our mouths. Libs will sabotage any Trump supporter.
Apparently the Brady couple is more interested in financial impact of visiting Trump White House. They do not want to lose liberal customers.
Yesterday was his parents 48th wedding anniversary.
Tom Brady is a great QB and a henpecked hubby.
Yesterday was also his parents’ 47th anniversary. They were celebrating. There may not be another.
