Score the Hundred Days
vanity ^ | April 18, 2017 | Nathan Bedford

Posted on 04/18/2017 1:41:49 PM PDT by nathanbedford

On March 30th of this year, Jim Robinson published a vanity titled, The sooner the president realizes that Ryan is an establishment swamp dwelling snake... advocating a series of recommendations for Donald Trump to change course and pursue. No well-intentioned conservative could disagree with any of Mr. Robinson's recommendations.

Further, no well-intentioned conservative could disagree with his conclusion: And I guarantee you that if he [accomplishes the list of recommendations beginning with "repeal Obamacare"] he will go down in history as one of the greatest president ever!

As we draw to the end of the first 100 days at which time an administration is traditionally judged on its accomplishments, I have taken the liberty of listing Mr. Robinson's recommendations in his own words while providing a place for the conservative reader to judge and signify whether Donald Trump is undertaking Jim Robinson's recommendations and, if so, to signify whether Trump is succeeding.

I have tried to provide fair characterizations for the reader to register his judgment. In some instances there will be overlap. For example, I believe the injunction to "deport them all" is mixed with a "good start" for the vigorous prosecution that we have seen but also a "betrayal" because the administration has reneged on its promise concerning DACA. To the degree that the reader judges that more than one category applies, he can simply indicate more than one category. I have necessarily stipulated arbitrary categories so that the forum can perhaps come to some sort of consensus. I also recognize that at this stage, 100 days, it is unreasonable to expect virtually any undertaking to be fully accomplished (even the appointment of Justice Gorsuch, as encouraging as it is, does not complete the recommendation for all judges to be appointed).

With these shortcomings in mind, here are Jim Robinson's recommendations from the above noted vanity written as he wrote them but presented here as a list for you to score.

Fair enough.

I’m too lazy to take a quiz anyway :)

Why now?

I am not singling Donald Trump out for special treatment, every single president since Franklin Delano Roosevelt has been judged in this way on his 100 day anniversary. Trump is deserving of no different treatment than any other president.

For your information I have excoriated Clinton and Obama on these threads for years and I take no second position to any FReeper on the intensity of my criticisms of those two presidents. But even if I had not said a word about them, this test is as proper as it is traditional.

Are you afraid that he will not fare well on your own scorecard? Is that the cause of your evident discomfort?

Good afternoon. I hope you are doing well.

My view on president Trump’s first 100 days? He would want us all to rate him. To run a country, or business you need metrics. Trends, comparisons, EBIDAT, etc.

If anyone asks me about “EBIDAT” I will charge them a fee.

I’ll give president Trump and A-

5.56mm

Again, you admit you haven’t done this with any other president.

What you have done is set up a number of different categories where people can disagree and argue about how effective he has been.

To one degree or another, that sets up just one more negative thread on this forum as it relates to Trump.

Trump has our back in Washington, and here we have countless ankle-biters trying to get folks to judge him constantly.

Are you not capable of grasping he’s a good president, without running this type of poll?

Let me ask you this brainiac. Which presidents in our lifetime do you think did a better job than what Trump is doing so far?

One simple question. It should separate the men from the girlie boys on this in short order.

But have you gone to the trouble of making up a scorecard and then posting it here in the past? Seems like a lot of work for someone who was against a Trump presidency in the first place.

I beg your pardon, who set up to categories?

I was never against Trump's presidency, I was very much against his nomination.

What is the big deal about scoring President Trump’s first 100 days? Some wins, some losses, some embarrassments, and a good starting point for the next 100 days. Are those who are criticizing the discussion thread doing so because you are afraid to criticize President Trump? Seriously, he’s not God, we already got that with the Dear Leader and look what that wrought us. President Trump and his administration is not perfect, let’s be honest in scoring him. Besides, if we cannot be honest about it, cannot criticize, then we might as well get some Vaseline and bend over and take whatever comes. Haven’t we seen enough of that, criticized Republicans for years for doing the same thing? IMHO, speak up but don’t trash each other as a means to dismiss, end, or avoid a discussion.

Each one of the topics your brought up, asked us to grade him on, is a different category. You defined them.

Isn’t this your vanity thread?

Didn’t you come up with these categories?

I debated adding the terms nomination/candidacy to my comment, but in my mind they mean the same thing: you didn’t want or expect Trump to be president. IOW, you weren’t a fan then and by posting this scorecard, you’ve shown you’re not a fan now either.

Obamacare - Trump good. Freedom Caucus Great. Ryancare had the cart before the horse.

Wall ——— Wall is a waste of money. Trump has better priorities.

Enforce law - Too early to tell. 1) Is Sessions sharp enough to see the winnable options and the unwinnable ones? 2) How many AGs under Sessions are major league players?

Deport All - Too early to tell. Focus on 1) Sympathizers of terrorists 2) Murderers, rapists, DUI drivers. 3) Welfare parasites. No immigrant, not legal, not illegal, not refugee should come here for welfare. These 3 are about 10%. So Deport 1.3 million? Leave workers alone.

Sanctuary Cities - Low priority. High priority. Cut the waste that goes to all cities.

Muslim immigration - Trump is great on this. Immigration has the wrong premise. Wannabes should have to prove why they should be allowed in. The government should not have the burden to prove the wannabe is unfit.

Iran - Trump is great so far.

Better Trade Deals - So far so good. Went well with China.

Manufacturing, Jobs - Trump is great on this. The reason he won ... oh and he ran against a loser.

Carbon fuels - Trump is great on this.

Domestic oil - Trump is great on this.

EPA - Good start. Go all the way.

Taxes - Incomplete.

Spending - Incomplete. We voters need to put the pressure on Congress. Real cuts. Not transfers from one spending program to another.

Debt - Growing the economy is on tract and that is necessary to cut the debt. Cutting spending has to be real.

Cut Regulations - This is my #1 reason to support Trump. He is off to a good start. He has a long ways to go.

Cut Government - Two parts. 1) Shift functions to the States eg ATF, bank robbery, transportation, almost all regulations. 2) End money to UN, End many programs that are irrelevant to states.

Judges - Great so far. Find good people for lower courts. Use the constitutional power to redefine the role of courts, and of specialty courts. Just a tax courts and FISA are created special, so courts can be created that bypass the the 9th circuit and all geographic courts.

Liberty - I constantly worry that Trump will love power.

Education - The ball is in DeVos court to come up with a plan.

Health & Welfare to states - For a person who specialized in healthcare for 12 years in Congress, Price is off to a slow start. He should make almost all HHS, CMS, NIST, ONC regs voluntary to the states. Some states will make mistakes. But no mistake is as big as Slavitt.

Border - Immigration should put the burden on the wannabe to prove why worthy of entry. Burden should not be on the government to prove him unworthy.

Military - Good so far. Go for quality, not quantity.

Absolute rubbish!

The posting of the scorecard is perfectly traditional, perfectly proper and from an impeccable source.

If you are unhappy it is not the scorecard but the answers which trouble you.
