A leading weapons academic has claimed that the Khan Sheikhoun nerve agent attack in Syria was staged, raising questions about who was responsible.
Theodore Postol, a professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), issued a series of three reports in response to the White House's finding that Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad perpetrated the attack on 4 April.

And, the perfect opportunity at the right time and right target.
“why are you posting trash news from YAHOO, a NOTORIOUS anti-Trump news organ about a fruitcake leftwing lib Theodore Postol?”
Almost all of the news media is anti-Trump. We just have to recognize that. Most posts on FR are from anti-Trump sites simply because almost all media outlets are anti-Trump.
Other sources have questioned the conclusions of the so called “intelligence” community and have also said the “intelligence” bureaucracy has been politicized.
I do not know for certain what happened in Syria but I try to look at all sides.
I have thought the same over all of the WMD attacks, but I am in no (govt. position/intel) to know enough :p
Who cares if it was staged. It was an excellent opportunity for Trump to take over, and boy did he ever. The second he launched those missiles, “Russia Gate” died, and we had the first positive movement vs. North Korea since the Clinton-Albright treason in 1994 that led to their nukes.
Doesnt matter. Its the message.

Exactly!
But what is his opinion about man-made global warming?
I do not consider myself knowledgeable regarding Machiavelli’s work, but about half of those quotes look bogus to me.
So what Intelligence is the MIT professor looking at? And how and why does he have access to said reports and speaking to the media?
This ladies in gentlemen is what we call speculation. Which means absolute dick. An “expert” shouldn’t speculate and if they do, they state that their opinion is just speculation. If you speculate and try to pass this is anything other than speculation, you are not an expert.
On the other hand, one could say; Did they even have access to the proper gear? If so, was it handy. If not handy, would you expect them to stand around and wait for it while people are suffering? Did they know it was a chemical attack to begin with? Do they even have training for chemical attacks? Maybe some do?
We just don’t know enough and probably never will. Congressional committees can’t even get a straight answer out of intelligence people.
So what is the “truth?” I am even more suspicious of the “intelligentsia” than of the intelligence services. Many professors are so left wing they would sell America out for a shoe buckle just to get their names in the papers.
It was a fake sarin gas attack, and Trump responded with a fake missile attack.
Depends on the level of exposure. As a gas, very small concentrations are lethal when inhaled. Skin exposure is also lethal but requires direct contact with the agent.
I do not pretend to know the truth, however I would like to see a real investigation.
Cui bono? It seems highly implausible that Assad did the one thing that would turn the West against him just as the USA said it would not seek his ouster.
If you’re the best know thief in town, and something goes missing, it’s your own damn fault if you get blamed.
Implausible? Assad is evil to the core. Look at his track record.
They didn’t know what they were working with and suffered the effects and had to be treated also.
I don’t know why people are so determined to find imaginary boogie men everywhere but they are.
I dont know why people are so determined to find imaginary boogie men everywhere but they are.
The dedicated America hating Putinists will always find an excuse to continue their blind support of fascist Russia and its proxies.
If there was more real information available there would be fewer questions.
