Hubby wishes the Queen many well wishes for a long life and continued service to country....so the a**hat Charles doesn't ascend to King. I'd have to agree with your hubby's sentiments.
Given the lack of moral character and integrity displayed by Charles in the past, I would hate to see him ascend to the throne. His selfishness (and Camilla's) ruined two marriages and impacted many lives, not the least of which were his own sons and Camilla's children. I have no respect for either of them.
If Charles outlives his mother, I doubt that the crown will leapfrog him to put Prince William on the throne. But William and Kate have brought a freshness to the modern day monarchy and earned for it a new respect that I fear will be lost if Charles and Camilla become the next king and queen.

William has said he does not want to bypass his father to become king.
IMO, if for some reason William DID ascend to the throne before his children are grown, the stress on his young family would be enormous. I hope this will remain a hypothetical issue for many years to come.
