After warnings yesterday, and on the heels of a "very good call" with President Trump, China has escalated its threats to North Korea over its nuclear tests. In another Global Times op-ed, China warns "if the North makes another provocative move this month, the Chinese society will be willing to adopt severe restrictive measures that have never been seen before..."
Yesterday's editorial in the military-focused Global Times tabloid, owned and operated by the Communist Party's People's Daily newspaper, said that North Korea’s nuclear activities must not jeopardize northeastern China, and that if the North impacts China with its illicit nuclear tests through either "nuclear leakage or pollution", then China will respond with force.

I wonder how deep down the Japanese feel about this? I’m sure on the one hand, they will be glad to see North Korea gone, but a unified Korea could turn into a threat, they have never forgotten the occupation.

I agree, and this is potentially what Trump offered China. Stabilize the region, show you’ll work with us, allow SK joint admin or at least access, and we withdraw to Japan. Only problem will be that an iron curtain style rush will occur when NKans find out about SK wealth.
Yeah, when Trump is done and writes his memoir, I’ll be first in line to buy copy.

Yeah, just Googling it now and reading about QBZ’s. Seems very awkward to shoulder. Not adjustable, and the chamber and ejection port right under the ear would seem deafening unless the shooter has really good micro-hearing protection on.
And yes, once we solve the North Korea problem, Cuba is next.

This is an interesting scenario:
So if we coordinated with China, and hit North Korea hard, like buff strikes and a push across the DMZ hard. Then the PLA can invade and play the “glorious comrades protecting their brothers against the imperialists” card and instantly fill the power vacuum we created.
The PLA would get huge propaganda boost.
China would get land and a population that can be made productive if run by someone who is not a maniac.
The rest of the region gets Kim Jong Un not bothering them anymore.
Trump get’s another don’t screw with the US lesson to stupid little dictators.
The only one left out is the ROK. Their long game seems to be waiting till the Norks implode, and they would rather have that territory for themselves and China across the Yalu instead of across the DMZ.
