FBI obtained FISA warrant to monitor former Trump adviser Carter Page
Washington Post ^ | April 11, 2017

The FBI obtained a secret court order last summer to monitor the communications of an adviser to presidential candidate Donald Trump, part of an investigation into possible links between Russia and the campaign, law enforcement and other U.S. officials said.

The FBI and the Justice Department obtained the warrant targeting Carter Page’s communications after convincing a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court judge that there was probable cause to believe Page was acting as an agent of a foreign power, in this case Russia, according to the officials.

This is the clearest evidence so far that the FBI had reason to believe during the 2016 presidential campaign that a Trump campaign adviser was in touch with Russian agents. Such contacts are now at the center of an investigation into whether the campaign coordinated with the Russian government to swing the election in Trump’s favor.

“They actually printed that? Clear evidence.they had reason to believe...”

Yes. Nail on the head. The press is pathetic. Worse than yellow.

There is much much more to this.

1) The constant drumbeat is to convince people to believe that there is a collusion between Trump and Russia (despite any lack of evidence). After all, they wouldn't be investigating if there were nothing there, would they?

2) The pounding on Trump is also to distract us from Hillary's very real collusion with Russia to sell them access to 1/5 of our uranium supply in return for a very generous "donation" to the Clinton Foundation. Bill Clinton's early trip in 1969 to the USSR as a student gives plenty of reason to believe that *he* was advancing the Soviet agenda all along; it is, therefore, reasonable to assume that Hillary, his faithful sidekick and lackey, was as devoted to promoting Soviet-style communism as he was.

“This confirms all of my suspicions about unjustified, politically motivated government surveillance,” Page told the Post Tuesday. “I have nothing to hide.”
Thanx BD

And comment #67 and to end of thread.

My point was to compare the anti-Trump view of Page “then” and “now”. Last September the Left ridiculed Trump for citing Page’s name as one of his foreign policy advisors. The story then was that Trump knew almost nothing about Page, a nobody trying to associate himself with powerful people as a marketing strategy. Now they want to imply that the same guy they said knew no one and was a non-entity was some sort of important Russia connection, justifying spying on Trump.

Trump’s executive style is to build expertise rapidly and zigzag in a dynamic world, rather than pursue a rigid, obsolete ideology like Obama and Hillary. Anyone who undertakes bold tasks will make many errors and omissions. Leftists will exploit these and wring their hands, but more sober heads should recognize errors and learn from them. So he could pretend he had foreign policy advisors early in the campaign, Trump cited Page as an advisor. That was a mistake by Trump, not least because it gave his opponents a stick to beat him with. The implied connection might have been the excuse the Dem’s needed to justify FBI spying collaterally on his campaign (though they likely would have come up with something else).

Let’s reverse engineer what the Obama Admin did.

They wanted to use the NSA/CIA to spy on the Trump campaign, but they needed an excuse to do so.

They looked deep into every Trump campaign worker’s FBI background data to see if they ever met with any foreign operatives. This is likely a Federal violation to use the FBI data for that use, but hey, it’s for “a greater good”, so who is going to ask questions.

They latch onto Page and some “Russian Connection”. Now the Obama Admin has their legal fig leaf to get a FISA warrant to wiretap everyone in the Trump campaign even remotely associated to Page.

Since the FBI is obviously involved in this, Comey is up to his eyeballs in enabling this illegal activity for political purpose. Now Comey has to protect his own ass.

This is almost certainly a “reverse” surveillance request to get “permission” to spy on the Trump campaign with “impunity”.

Comey is dirty. This needs to be investigated and Nunes stepping down is suspicious as well - someone got to him.

A hearing in court, a citizen has a right to petition the federal courts when their rights have been violated, even by the government.

I agree with you, a hearing in court. The question is how to get the matter to court. The FBI is unquestionably compromised. If Mr. Page sues, he would have the usual uphill battle trying to sue the feds. If circumstances were exactly the same, but Trump was a Democrat, we could rely on media help to expose the truth. But the media won’t do it. So I have no confidence at all that justice will be served in this situation. The Democrats in and out of government will continue to spin this lie until they can get no more mileage out of it. Congressional Republicans will still mostly be cowards, and the lie has already become inextricably woven into the history of the Trump presidency.

Every friend is an “informal adviser.” So now fake news is saying anyone who gives Trump advice is an adviser?

I thought Dick Tracy Comey said there were no warrants or wiretaps?

I have the same question. Did he lie under oath about this?

So, Comey’s in charge of an FBI investigation that will somehow reveal that Comey’s FBI asked for the FISA warrant? But only innocent Republicans need to recuse?

Trump has the authority to declassify any document and make it public, but I think he is playing it just right. He is going to let the investigation go through the motions, otherwise, he will be accused of intervening.

This will go on for a long, long, long time.

Good afternoon.

I might be missing something. The Compost is reporting this?

Didn’t they (collectively) say that president Trump was nuts to accuse 0bama of surveillance?

Aren’t all of these articles proving the President’s point?
