For the first time in 12 years I am breaking two traditions for the TCMS. Each year the shoot is held at different locations; although some ranges were visited two or more times, it has never happened in consecutive years. But because my life has been a bit wonky lately I just dont have the energy for the research and recon.
The other broken tradition is the name change. This year we will also honor my co-cat herder, NYTexan, and my beloved husband, Eaker; both of these fine men passed away within days of each other this past March.
Therefore, the shoot will mirror last years shoot. I spoke with the folks at Cherokee Village Resort this afternoon and temporarily reserved the entire place for October 19 ~ 22, 2017. Tomorrow I will call and confirm those dates, then post the final date to make your reservations. When calling to make a reservation, mention that you are with the TexasCowboy group. You will have to make a deposit equal to a one night stay.
The shoot will be held at Hicksville Gun Range, in Gatesville, starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 21st. Where once again we can enjoy the range dogs, the owners and lunch provided by our own cook, cpdiii.
humblegunner has volunteered to make some containers in which to place Eakers ashes, which will be attached to containers of tannerite so that we can all blow Eakers ashes into the wind. It will be an epic send off!
They are going to call you, but you DO now have Cottage #2. :)
It’s really nice. I was in it last year and liked it a lot.
Can hardly wait to see y’all again!
Ok, thank you very much. They called and we’re booked. See you there.
Lodging is filling up pretty quick at Cherokee Village, we’ve already reserved half the place. In the event of a stall, folks have until June 30th to make their final reservations.
Thanks to everyone that has offered to help in any way. The most difficult part, finding the locations, is done. (OK, so I cheated a bit on that one LOL) We’ve been doing this for so long it is like a well oiled machine. The nights and Friday morning at CVR we’ll either figure out something to cook or go into town to eat. All that will be decided at some point on Thursday. Our resident cook, cpdiii, will feed us his amazing brisket for lunch at the range ~ just need a few of us to bring side dishes.
Hopefully these next six months will fly by.
True story.
40 1/2 lb charges of tannerite on order.
We can duct tape them together if more Ooomph is required
Fair enough.
If you want to look for a stopover point at no cost, let me know. We’re in Sierra Vista, AZ. Looking at my trusty map, that’s East of Yuma.
Wide open space. I like it!
That is Donna’s (The Mom) shot!
That is an offer I will take You up on!
Cochises’ Stronghold is My favorite
Camping Spot and Tombstone...well.
Hope you can and I’ll bet we can find a place for you! :)
Awesome! Looking forward to seeing y’all again! That cabin is down a gravel hill and around a curve, so I hope you’ll have your van to get you back and forth to the pavilion. :) You’ll like the cabin.
According to google, our house is 2.4 miles from Cherokee Village. 5 or 6 minutes because the roads are rough. We’ve got 2 guest rooms in the house with a double bed each. One upstairs, one down. Also have a garage apartment with one double bed and one twin bed.
While it isn’t with the group at Cherokee, you are certainly welcome to what we have :)
Kudos to ... your family, Bell and yourself
Thank you ladies, we will see what we can see.
I is gettin ready to head off to work for 12 hours of fun and frivolity:-(

Hiya Neighbor. I spoke with Msdrby last night since she’s hardy on FR anymore.
No hard decisions yet, but we may take you up on it.
That’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
