White House counselor Kellyanne Conway urged Democrats to come to the bargaining table with President Trump on legislative issues and thinks they may be key to getting Trump's legislative agenda passed.
On Fox News Tuesday, Conway said bipartisan work on tax reform and infrastructure will be key to getting the administration's proposal through Congress. She said working with Trump could be key to some Senate Democrats' re-election chances.
"A number of them may want to listen to their constituents that are saying we want some type of tax relief to allow us to spur this growth, this 3 to 4 percent growth, that allows us to retain and attract an American workforce," Conway said.
She added, "We would like the Democrats' help on tax reform, on healthcare reform, on infrastructure, and we certainly want Congress to move swiftly on all these."

“President Trump, first, how about working with the people who voted for you?”
He has to work with Congress, a totally separate distinction. We don’t get another vote. Remember what Ryan said about supporting Trump?
I would like to see the HFC make valuable contributions to all of the legislation moving through congress but if 30 congressmen think they can hold Trump's agenda hostage they're lunatics.
Flame away Freepers, but somebody's got to keep a foot on the ground.
“Embrace the swamp.”
Not hardly. Sad to see so many people here in FR trashing our President foolishly.
Asking the Democrats to work with him is brilliant because it prevents Schumer & Pelosi from saying “President Trump refuses to work with us so please help us win a Democrat majority in 2018”. It also motivates those obstructionist members of the Swamp in the GOP that stuff can get down without them.
No. I reject the idea that Trump should work with a political party that wants him impeached, has been shellacked in every election since 2010, controls less governorships, state legislatures, congress and the executive branch since Woodrow Wilson, and is bankrupt of ideas.
To paraphrase Obama circa 2008 - "we won". Damit act like it! Finally, I blame the useless GOP in congress more than Trump at this stage because they sat on their asses for 8-years and were not ready to lead.
“Okay, I am going to be mean: move the Kushners out of the White House. I think they have too much influence. We did NOT vote for them.”
Actually all of us who voted for President Trump did vote for them as well. The Kushners were advisors to Trump starting all the way back in the primaries & general election. They along with Bannon, Kellyanne & others advised Trump all the way into the White House.
Either you trust President Trump to make his own decisions (as he has done repeatedly since the primaries & general election) of your don’t. Or did you forget when President-elect Trump met with Algore? There was such a huge uproar that President-elect Trump was going to go back on his promises to roll back Odumbo’s climate change BS & yet, President Trump is doing EXACTLY what he said he would do.
Yes, because everyone knows how weak-willed Trump is.
Wow. Have you forgotten who won the 2016 election?
It is totally ridiculous to just assume that no Leftist can be induced to take the bait and cooperate. Those with personal experience in how inconsistent are so many on any side of one or another issues, will see the common sense in what Kellyanne is saying here.
Actually repealing Obamacare is paying hardball? Were you in a coma last year?
democraps don’t want to work with him. They are willing to destroy the country rather than have Trump succeed.
That sounds like Jeb.
“Wow. Have you forgotten who won the 2016 election?”
Not hardly. I’m still grinning from the results. Aren’t you?
The error that those criticizing the President & Kellyanne are making here is in assuming that all issues, and all provisions in contemplated legislation are ideologically driven. There is much that is not; much that can be dangled to induce someone to take part, without surrendering any principle to the person induced to take part.
You’re ruining a purist ideological rant by a number of Freepers more interested in scorched earth than in accomplishments.
Kellyanne specifically said tax reform. Just exactly how can Trump work with democrat socialists on tax reform? Please be specific with historical examples of effective democrat tax reform ideas.
While they may have not been on the ballot, you've got them. And should have known going in the family would have a lot of input.
I think a lot of people overlooked on which side of the line the family tended to associate.
Plus I think by 2018 a lot of people in the rust belt and coal country will begin understanding the phone isn't going to ring with that well paying job they believe they've been promised.
Couldn't have said it better.
Agreed, there’s not a reason in the world why the Infrastructure Bill couldn’t include building the southern wall. We can get reimbursement later by various means.
With the GOPe and the #NeverTrump crowd sabotaging him, he needs some Dems. Reagan did the same thing.
