Complete Headline: Thank you, Mr Trump! First images of damage at Assads burnt-out airbase emerge as tearful Syrians cheer US missile raid
- US missiles appear to have shattered hangars, destroyed at least nine Syrian jets, weapons and a fuel store
- Images from al-Shayrat military airfield near Homs also shows a cratered runway and part of a Tomahawk
- Many Syrians react with joy at Donald Trump's decision to attack Assad target after chemical weapons row
- Russians warned ahead of the strike using a special military-to-military hotline and convoy seen leaving
These are the first images of the carnage caused by Donald Trump's Tomahawk barrage on al-Assad's badly damaged airbase as Syrians thanked the President for the raid.
US missiles appear to have shattered hangars, destroyed at least nine Syrian jets, weapons and a fuel store, as well as leaving left giant craters in the runway at al-Shayrat military airfield near Homs.
Its radar system and surface-to-air missile defences were also damaged - but crucially the laser-guided missiles avoided the Sarin stores there.

Looks like a pile of dirt was hit with some missiles.

Not me, gassing women and children comes all to close to Hitler’ methods. And we know DUMBO and the Useless Nations have turned a blind eye to the sarin gas build up in Syria.

Looks to me like very little real damage. Was this a show strike for political reasons? I think something else is going on. I was wondering about this possibility last night. This article's bullet point about a "convoy seen leaving" firms up that suspicion.

Russian SAMs are excellent. Strange how they didn’t knock down the slow moving Tomahawk. Hmmm.

You know what is worse than gas? Fire. Fire burns when you breath it in, and you should see what it does when it gets on your skin. This arbitrary no-no about which chemical compounds are grounds to invade other countries is bad policy.

He’s not doing a very good job of it. Our allies will take Raqqa before Assad is even secure in his own location. He’s a genocidal nut and a fraud.

If there is no moral qualms about chemical weapons, why did even Hitler shun their use in WWII?

Obama started this a few miles from a Russian base that had been there since the 70s. We better not be in a proxy war, but then again, we have been for decades.

Because they are bad and nasty. So?
Bad and nasty things happen every single day all over the globe. Is there any of them that you don’t want to stick your nose into?

All night, I was thinking. President Xi, is in the next room & Trump is sending missile strikes before dessert.
How cool is that?
*President XI, we have some American made fireworks to show you tonight.* :)

There won’t be an invasion.

I trust the Trump and his intelligence...
I have a hard time trusting the intellegence from the same spooks who spied on Trump, his family and his staff for the past year. They want a war with Russia a bit too much.
To: Helicondelta
On this one sure, I still think it’s really bad policy to set ourselves up as the planets enforcer of what is acceptable violence or not. It is directly apposed to Washington’s wisdom.

Interestingly, we’ve heard that comment for decades from America hating leftists. Be careful with the company you keep, FRiend.

Because Russia has cruise missiles too.
We have had their nuke subs sitting off the coast of the US, too. Most recently in the North East. Before that, in the Gulf.
