Why in the hell don’t some Republican groups complain against SEVERAL dems and demand ethics investigations?

Seriously - the GOP needs to at least fight back!!!

Isn’t odd how leftists are only interested with ethics when it’s other people they can apply them to. Standards are only used to destroy with them, never used to improve.

For all you “Friday Night Lights” fans Conaway was the quarterback for the first Odessa Permian team that won State.
He’s been a “W” lapdog since.

Senate ethics? An oxymoron on a par with “paper china” or “plastic silverware”.

It’s not another “scalp”. Nunes is still there ... just not in front of the cameras until he clears the bogus ethics charge.

Hellary had her FBI files, Rice has her surveillance, the DNC has the msm’s fake news and outright lies and the GOPe has more than its fair share of RINOs working against conservatives. Surely, that has nothing to do with all these people stepping aside, bowing out and resigning.

How about Comey and McCabe stepping aside from any investigations involving Trump and the 2016 election given their obvious partisanship for Hillary Clinton?

Where are our groups filing ethics claims against Obama? Rice? Brennan?

Most people complaining about this on FreeRepublic probably didn't even know who the hell Devin Nunes was until two weeks ago.

I sure didn't.

I really don't give a damn who leads this committee for the Republican Party. Heck -- since everything Nunes said turned out to be true (and then some), I'm not even sure there's a role for Congress here anymore. The White House should be dealing directly with the Justice Department in turning over records for a criminal investigation involving a whole bunch of people in the Obama administration.

The optics of this are horrible and it gives the left a huge "moral victory" and morale boost.

If there really was some reason Nunes had to quit, which I doubt, it could have been done with a spin like:

"As we move this investigation into its second phase, we're bringing in our more experienced team to head this important process in order to strengthen the process".

Instead we got Nunes saying essentially: "Democrats say I have ethics problems, and rather than deny that I'm quitting"

The last thing the Democrats wanted was for Nunes to let another Republican IC committee member run the investigation.

They wanted to keep the red herring alive and fog the disclosures from Nunes for as long as possible.

Nunes has denied them the opportunity. He has de-personalized the investigation.

He clearly feels that the case facts are strong and someone else can take them and close the deal.

I don't even understand why we have to have some partisan committee "investigate" this in the first place.

Espionage should really be a CRIMINAL matter that the DOJ should be dealing with. Instead it's being turned into a partisan "show" designed to give Congress video clips of themselves being "tough".

Now I understand why the GOP tried to abolish this farcical committee after the 2016 elections. This dumbass “ethics” board is one of that ditzy broad’s, Nancy Pelosi’s, idea. There’s no “ethics” in politics. If you’re “ethical”, you don’t win elections.

I think of the old phrase, “when given lemons, make lemonade”.

Only the chairman and ranking member of the committee have authorization to review the security information. By rotating the chairman position, you make the information legally available to an expanded number of reliable committee members. They can’t destroy everyone.
