I remember his gang of 6 lecturing us around 2003 that we shouldn’t use the nuclear option or else the dems would use it when they got back in power. They didn’t use it, Dems got back into power, and mostly gutted it anyway.

Translated; We can’t give up our ability to run the whole show, no matter what the voters, Representatives and the President wants.

McCain said changing the rules would be a “body blow to the institution,” adding he thinks it puts them on a slippery slope.

The Senate has been a joke for years. The slippery slope began with the 17th amendment, which called for the direct election of U.S. Senators in all states (states had previously appointed or elected them as they wished).

Democrats who politicized the confirmation process destroyed whatever credibility the Senate ever had.

If anyone’s an expert on “stupid idiots”, it would be McCain.

I’d have more respect for this guy if he would just change parties and get it over with already.

It’s not good for the Senate. And the blame lies with the Democrats who made it necessary.

RE:”McCain said he’s had numerous conversations with members on both sides of the aisle in an attempt to strike an agreement on the matter.”

Agreement?

Democrats have used the so-called nuclear option if I’m not mistaken, so what’s the old crank on about now?

The Rs won't use the "nuclear option". They will use the "Reid Rule". Reid said

I really do believe that I have set the Senate so when I leave, we’re going to be able to get judges done with a majority. It takes only a simple majority anymore. And, it’s clear to me that if the Republicans try to filibuster another circuit court judge, but especially a Supreme Court justice, I’ve told 'em how and I’ve done it, not just talking about it. I did it in changing the rules of the Senate. It’ll have to be done again, They mess with the Supreme Court, it'll be changed just like that in my opinion, So I’ve set that up. I feel very comfortable with that.

He said "in my opinion", but we all know without a doubt the Ds will do it the next chance they have. The filibuster is dead because of Reid.
