It is said that Watergate wasnt about the crime, but about the coverup. Well, at least in the Watergate scandal, there was a proper crime specifically, the break-in and wiretapping. The frenzy has created a scandal without perpetrators or a crime. There is a sense that Washington is on the brink, but no one can say on the brink of what.
Rice has a history of a strained relationship with the truth, and for a national security adviser, she has, at times, flown close to the partisan political flame. So, what was going on? Why did she do it? And with whom, in the government and the media, did she share the information?
Multiple senators are now demanding her testimony. There could have been crimes committed and a real scandal could develop, so you can bet the full story will be slow to emerge. It appears that Rice has issued the standard denials. And her defenders on Capitol Hill and in the media will do all they can to distract and demand that there is nothing to see here. Democrats and their media allies will continue to make baseless allegations, hoping that the Russia investigations will somehow deliver for them and become this presidents Watergate.
The result so far? Competing outrage. Just as Democrats are pursuing L-TACs (links, ties, associations or contacts) in search of a crime, the Obama White Houses national security adviser has now landed as one of the ones who will have to answer for her actions under oath. Washington is as scandal-primed as Ive ever seen it there is a lot of smoke right now, but no clear fire. So the noise and finger-pointing will continue. And I have no idea who is winning.

And .. Farkas was a part of Hillary’s campaign.
So, don’t count her organization out just yet; there are several who were working in Hillary’s campaign who would have been willing to dig for dirt .. just because.
It CERTAINLY involves Obama because HE ISSUED AN E.O. directly facilitating dissemination of the relevant intel.
It looks like a contributer/blogger type rather than a full time reporter.
I can’t believe they ran it.
NYT and WAPO are the Ding and Dong of the Lefty Dem Press wing of the communists etc, etc....preach ....choir.
Bullsh!t. The "fire" is the series of news stories posted in various media outlets with references to transcripts of intelligence materials with the identities of U.S. citizens unmasked. This is clear evidence of a two-fold crime: (1) leaking classified information, and (2) leaking the identities of U.S. citizens who were identified during surveillance of foreign targets.
What caught the Obama WH was Trump winning the election.. If Hillary had won this would never be ought there. It would have gotten buried just like Fast and Furious, Benghazi, the IRS scandal and so and so on..
Since we does the Post describe Democrats as having Media Allies?
Right!
My guess s that they wanted to get some info OUT OF THE FILES....and destroyed...or kept for blackmail purposes.
This is Watergate x 1000.
Yes, a flying chit storm LOL
There was a thread on this subject a few days ago with one small item that really caught my eye. Someone claimed that the Russians reached out to Trump last year to warn him that the U.S. government had him under surveillance. Just think about that for a second and realize how outlandish and surreal this story has become.
If that was true, and Trump knew about the surveillance last year, then there is no doubt in my mind that the Trump team was deliberately feeding fake information to the eavesdroppers that completely undermined Hillary Clinton's campaign. This would help explain how Trump was able to pull off such a historic upset, wouldn't it?
You seem to be rather prophetic these days, LS!
Very insightful comment, Cyber. Obama (with the help of the Chicago Democrat Machine) always cleared the field in his races; that’s how he won despite having no experience and no discernible skills.
I believe it was Flynn’s and Manafort’s conversations with some Russian counterparts that triggered the plan. They made the rest of it up as they went along.
The media’s compliance with the scheme is really scary.
BINGO. I totally agree with your assessment.
DJT should tweet ‘I saw and heard Obama telling the Russians he’d have more flexibility after the election. Gonna tap him’
That would be too funny.
That’s what I thought. Didn’t bother to read the Compost.
Like Nick Cage in “Next” it is good for about 2 minutes into the future.
Agreed it is bigger but I would be happy with Rice’ s head and The Tussia BS story ends. Sounds like a fair trade to me.
Trump cleared, Obama Admin implicated as corrupt.
Then we will have all kinds of books to read for years about this.
I also think there is a tie to the HRC campaign here too. Why else survalience for over a year. And her crew kept there State Dept security clearance which is BS too.
LS, I’ve noticed that you’ve been quiet on this forum since the election and you popped back up yesterday best I can tell...IMHO, 3 things let me know that this is a big deal and we’re just on the tip of this right now...
1 - From the moment Trump won, thru the transition, and then as soon as he took office, things seemed too coordinated by all the bad actors...all you could hear was about how Trump was going down quickly, etc...coming from people that just couldn’t keep their mouth shut (Shumer, Waters, etc.)...too many people seemed to know\think they knew things that no one else did...the whole Trump-Russia ruse
2 - Trump tweeting out on March 4th about the surveillance, letting the people know that Team Trump were about to put the plan in motion to expose what had been going on for months
3 - The fact that you, along with some others, engaged on this topic, leads me to think something big is up :)
Anyway, good to see you and some others dialed in on this!
