Who could have guessed that “diverse” characters would tank Marvel’s sales?

"Watched the first six episodes of Legion on FX. Was engaged. Stopped with the 7th, the latest episode. Homosexual propaganda. Sorry. Im done"
Do not speak ill of Legion

It’s not diversity in and of itself it that the editors have let the writers do whatever they want without reeling them in. Ignoring decades of cannon and history. Marvel is absolutely unreadable anymore. Even worse that DC was during the new 52

It’s because white heterosexual males are the most interested in comic books.
Of course their sales plummeted. They are doing the absolute worst thing a company can do. Alienate their ONLY TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC.
Making characters that have been heterosexual for decades gay, and changing them from young white males to black males, hispanic males, or women does not interest the only target demographic marvel comics has.
Marvel comics will die in the next 10 years, but marvel studios will flourish since they have a huge audience for movies and have done well in the genre, much better than DC.

What the muslim female hero doesn’t even wear a Hajib! She would be beheaded in Iran.

Guardians of the Galaxy may help right the ship, unless they screw that up.

We didn’t have any money (or surrogate parental interest in) stuff like that, but the ads in comic books always caught my eye. I wanted the Polaris missile submarine, as I was kind of into submarines then.

Wolverine isn’t tearing up the bad guys on this cover.
That’s why Marvel comics is failing.

don't worry Dr. Manhattan took care of that

I came close to selling Grit magazine but we moved too much—three different junior highs. Mowing lawns was real money.
I did order some Sea Monkeys. If you used your imagination they looked nothing like the ads.

Can you imagine going back in time and telling your younger self about the world of today? Oh man, funny you said that. I was just out on the balcony for a while, chatting with my then-submarine-obsessed child self, in my head.
Most of the world today, I wouldn't even try to explain to him. I'd keep it to stuff that was in his world for the most part.

Lame as may be, THAT is the kind of humor I expect from Archie comics.

As much as the character changes played a part, they also featured writing by SJW-types that ruined many books. They are the ESPN of the comic realm.

No mention of Luke Cage???
OH WAIT. Luke Cage was born black and was always black. If Marvel wants to remain consistent they’ll cast a white transgendered woman as Luke Cage in the movie version.
By the way the Netflix adaptation was bad-ass?

I always wanted to order those x-ray glasses when I was a kid but they had to come via U.S. mail and I was afraid my parents would get them and find out what a perv I was.
