More people are leaving the New York region than any other major metropolitan area in the country.
More than 1 million people moved out of the New York area to another part of the country since 2010, a rate of 4.4 percent the highest negative net migration rate among the nations large population centers, US Census records show.
The number of people leaving the region which includes parts of New Jersey, Connecticut, the lower Hudson Valley and Long Island in one year swelled from 187,034 in 2015 to 223,423 in 2016, while the number of international immigrants settling in the tri-state area dwindled from 181,551 to 160,324 over the same period, records show.

People leaving NY are like people leaving China; There’s a billion more where they came from.
“They are even fleeing to TX. We arent happy.”
And Texans are fleeing to Colorado and we ain’t happy about that. Never saw such slow drivers.
Yankees are like hemorrhoids
Those that come down and go back up
Ain’t so bad....
Oh yes, I was born in NJ
By birth a Damn Yankee
E. Tenn. By the Grace of God
Well, we aren’t left wing. Most of the Upstate areas lean republican in fact.
If we didn’t have to stay until my husband is eligible to retire we would have left a few years ago.
I am already scoping out a retirement option or two. I have my camp up for sale as that will take years to sell, and then that money goes in the bank for a down payment on our next home. Then we sell our two junky houses in NY and haul butt.
I live where I live because of family- grew up here, moved back here after a few years away, now every person in our immediate family -brothers sisters children parents ... all live in this state. If I could move everyone I would move us to Wyoming or Montana.
Build it high and patrol it with mayonnaise drones, nothing weeds out Yankees like a big dollop of Mayo.
you got that right. theses bozos screw up the state they are in financially. then complain about how screwed up the state is. they then do the same damage to where ever they move. I live in California and are biggest export is screwed up liberals.
I have to visit NYC 2-4 times per quarter for my job. Love getting a great steak or two but can’t stand it. Traffic sucks, people aren’t nice, everything costs a fortune, housing is tiny and out of this world expensive etc. I’ll stay living in a 500k-1m size city (well suburbs) in the South, TYVM.
I was born in Brooklyn and we all moved to CA as conservatives decades ago.
Yes, unfortunately they and the Californians are moving to Colorado at an alarming rate and bringing their sh*t politics with them. We’re still saddled with insane gun laws brought to us by a Bloomberg New Yorker who sneaked into the legislature before being recalled.
Hubbie’s cousin from CT is moving down very soon. We WILL tell them - don’t vote the way you might have up there. (We aren’t sure of their politics) Texas MUST stay RED!
I have to visit all the time since I got my MBA ~5 years ago and switched to the finance world. Wish I didn’t have to - but I never was very enamored with it or most other super large cities.
.....”Californians are moving to Colorado at an alarming rate and bringing their sh*t politics with them”....
I’ve heard that pretty frequently.....and since they can’t stand their own state anymore...they figure they’ll make Colorado their new state and rearrange you’re furniture to suit them.....they’re lice in any community they go.
Yes. All I see around Baltimore and DC are NY plates. The most plates I see are MD (of course) and then it’s NY- not VA, PA, DC, or DE. You see them on 95, at gyms, supermarkets, suburbs; it’s been like this for years and the traffic now is worse than 5 and 10 years ago.
big cities do not have to be misgoverned hellholes, but with "progressive" politicians in control they inevitably will be.
I had to go there to get on a ship headed to Germany. What a dump.

Build a fence and keep them in the northeast, they are ruining Virginia.
Yep. My mother has a liberal friend from New York that lives here part of the year.
And we're way down in the country in southern VA.
Just waiting for the Tsunami to sink that place.
Same with California's fleeing to Colorado.....and it doesn't take a lot of gray matter to tell who is a liberal, though they think they conceal it....it's always ridiculously obvious.
