Health Reform: For a week now, the conservative House Freedom Caucus has been taking hits for derailing the Republican effort to repeal and replace ObamaCare. But why are moderate/liberal Republicans who refused to support the bill getting a free pass?
The Freedom Caucus was the most vociferous in its opposition to the American Health Care Act or at least its criticisms of the bill attracted the most attention.
The Wall Street Journal editorial page blamed the group, calling it the "Freedom-From-Reality Caucus." CNN reported that "its members are Public Enemy No. 1 on Capitol Hill."
President Trump went so far as to tweet that "The Freedom Caucus will hurt the entire Republican agenda if they don't get on the team, & fast. We must fight them, & Dems, in 2018!"
The truth is that nobody knows for sure who would have voted against the bill since House Speaker Paul Ryan pulled it from the floor before a vote was cast.
However, IBD examined two lists compiled by NBC News and Heavy.com of those who had publicly stated that they were leaning or definite "no" votes on the American Health Care Act. Combining the two lists, it adds up to 44 Republicans who could have cast "no" votes if they'd had the chance.
Of those, only 18 are members of the Freedom Caucus.

When so called conservatives voted to keep lying Ryan speaker they sold out!!!
“A lot of Freepers have latched onto a notion that President Trump attacked the FG and therefore he attacked conservatives.”
That’s because the notion is true.
I think it was Koch’s interference that turned this into a little war. He was paying his minions to go against the bill, which Ryan put together in secret as a fait accompli— this is very complicated chess. But Meadows we should have stayed far away from Koch.
I don't know if I would go so far as to say they have become the cheering section for RINOs. I think they are just so desperate to "win", that they don't care what carnage is left in the wake.
I compare them to Kyle Busch. Kyle Busch would wreck his own grandmother's hearse in order to be the first one at her funeral.
You do realize that Mo Brooks is part of the HFC.
Mo Brooks has called this as he sees it, which was “Obamacare 2.0”. Even when amendments were added, he said that it made the bill “less bad”, but he was still opposed to it. And that is why I, and many others in his district, voted for him: to repeal it, not to keep it going.
“Never thought Id see the day that Free Republic would become the cheering section for RINOs.”
I never thought I’d see the day when the GOP would have control of all the branches of gov’t and STILL can’t get anything GOOD for the nation accomplished. I’m sick of ALL of them. FC, GOPe, 99% of them are only out for THEIR interest NOT the interest of the nation. FC is supposed to be “conservative” but they can’t get a bill out of committee??? What GOOD are they then?
For all the “principals” being bandied about Obamacare is STILL the law of the land & we are no closer to removing it than the day it was signed into law. But hey, we got “principals”.
Off-topic, but that sounds a lot like how Dale Earnhardt, Sr. raced.
All those except Tax Cuts are within the power of the POTUS and the crime inc-that being the CONgress, have very little to do with it. The Keystone just needed to be signed and Trump did that.
I will bet ANYONE here a beer on this site, that Trumps Tax Reform will never pass, Nor will immigration matters, or any other agenda Trump ran on.
Oh but they can investigate out and out lies cant they?
Whoppee for Mo Brooks. Hope he is coronated king of the hill one day. Can he get a DAMN BILL OUT OF COMMITTEE onto the floor for a vote???? If he can, why hasn’t he yet? If he can’t WHAT GOOD ARE HIS PRINCIPALS????
Bingo!
I said it years ago, and I'll say it again..... It's 1930s Germany all over again, except that Conservatives are the new Jews.
Of course, when I originally said it, I was of the belief that only democrats were anti-conservative in nature. That sentiment has apparently expanded quite a bit since then.
Well, hell, at least he is trying, and not compromising who he is. That’s a hell of a lot more than I can say about most republicans, and many here recently on FR.
Pick another agenda item, then.
What other goal of President Trump's does The House Freedom Caucus stand in the way of?
I agree with your assessment, I think the FC is pimping for big business, and Ryan is pimping for big insurance, neither group is representing the American people. People here are just choosing sides, and it doesn’t matter, because neither one of them is representing them.
Please pay better attention.
I’m saying there’s no practical difference between Ryan and the “freedom” caucus.
“Well, hell, at least he is trying, and not compromising who he is. Thats a hell of a lot more than I can say about most republicans, and many here recently on FR.”
Which CHANGES NOTHING!!!! Obamacare remains the law of the land. Screw trying, I require SUCCESS.

Just because Trump was elected, were we expecting The Stupid Party to suddenly do a 180 and start governing in a mature sable and cohesive manner?
Folks, let's see the big picture: The Uni Party lives on as it always has. So much for draining the swamp.
/bitter resignation
And how has selling out your principals caused that success?
1) Because blaming the HFC & selling the idea of a GOP Civil War sells more papers & gets better ratings.
2) Because people who ordinarily consider themselves "conservative" but want to preserve socialized health care let the MSM get away with #1.
Of those, only 18 are members of the Freedom Caucus.
Interesting. I had seen numbers that there were closer to 100 Repubs who would vote No.
Anyway - this we know is the reason why Ryan pulled the vote twice last week. And how convenient it was for Trump and the RINO's to blame the HFC.
And you need a laxative, you full of _____
