Rep. Trey Gowdy stood by his colleague, Chairman Devin Nunes, even after Democrats like Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer have demanded his resignation due to uncertainty over whether he can continue to serve as an impartial arbiter.
Speaking to Fox Newss Martha McCallum, Gowdy said Nunes hasnt done anything wrong in his efforts to investigate allegations that the previous administration spied on the Trump campaign.
I just love it when Senator Schumer gives Republicans advice on what we ought to do, Gowdy said. Devin is doing exactly what the chairman ought to do.
When you have a source that has information, you handle that information safely, securely, which is exactly what he did. I wish Senator Schumer and some of the other Democrats would be more interested in authenticity and the reliability of the underlying data and not the means by which it was acquired.
He also said it shouldnt matter where the information came from, as long as its true.
Whether it was the White House or Waffle House, what difference does it make if the information is reliable and authentic? It just so happens that Devin had to do it this way. So, were not going to take advice from Chuck Schumer on who our chairpeople ought to be.
About time someone with some authority stood up for common sense. Why is that so rare?
Waffle House Intrigue Ping
Gowdy might be the only congressman who can replace Ryan.
Blackburn might do it as a congresswoman.
bttt
What I adore about Dev is with the smokescreen/field brawl the RATS were pursuing over the Russia fumble, he grabbed the ball and shot into the endzone... but the refs and players are still staring in shock at him because the ball was just *right there* a second ago and nobody saw him grab it.
So they sicced the MenSeekingMen on him, which ain’t gonna net anything for them.
Perhaps you are overestimating a Congressional committee chairman's power and confusing the constitutional roles of the legislative and executive branches. It is Gowdy's duty to investigate and perhaps refer whatever he finds to the Department of Justice, but it is the Attorney General's prerogative to impanel a grand jury and bring charges. That ball will be in Jeff Sessions' court now that Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch are history.
Rule #4 (shift): Only politicians that interfere w/ the padding of an others’ pockets or is a ‘threat’ will be *allowed* to be prosecuted to the MINIMAL allowed under the law.
FReepmail me or KoRn to get on or off the Waffle House Ping List.
