BROKEN ARROW, Oklahoma -
The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office said three people are dead after a homeowner's son shot them Monday afternoon.
Officers say it happened at a home near 91st and Clearview Drive in Wagoner County.
The Wagoner County Sheriff's Office said the homeowner and his adult son were in the home when three males wearing masks and gloves tried to break in at about 12:30 p.m. The homeowner's son shot the intruders with a rifle, deputies said, killing all three.
The sheriff's office said both the homeowner and his son are cooperating with the investigation and went to the sheriff's office to give statements to investigators.
Deputies found two of the intruders' bodies inside and one outside the home.

If more people would respond to crime in this manner, we would have less victims, and less people willing to commit crimes in the first place.
Not a.m. - it wasn’t on early morning news around here so this happened during the lunch hour. First started hearing about it on local news radio, i.e. Limbaugh/Hannity station, in the 1:30pm news break.
It was in fact PM, just after lunch.
I don’t think many people would lose much sleep over legitimate self-defense and the results of it. Speaking for myself, I can’t imagine I would give it a second thought.
Journalism...REAL journalism...is dead.
IMHO, this sounds like a drug house attempted robbery.
Just sayin’
Actually, I hope we hear very little more about it. That means it was a good, valid kill and the people will be left alone.
Could be. I stayed in Broken Arrow a couple of years ago because I had a rewards-earned free hotel room. I didn’t venture out much late at night except to the convenience store next door. Nonetheless, earlier that afternoon I was surprised how much BA had grown (had been there probably in the 1970’s). Of course, you would find that anywhere, pretty much.
Lots of soldiers with PTSD would disagree.
“How do we know he didnt use a Marlin 60?”
To the media a Marlin 60 is an AK47.
Give the boy a stuffed Teddy Bear prize.
Nice shootin' son!
Thanks. It’s just that the media so often get these things wrong. Early afternoon is an extraordinary time for an attempted home invasion.
With masks though in broad daylight?
OK
Somebody up thread who knows a bit more about this than I and claimed it was an AR-15.
I doubt that all three would be DRT with .22’s, though it’s possible.
They could have all been piling in the front door one after the other.
Or your suggestion. Aiyeeeeeeeeeeee!
Using Google Maps it was an easy house to find. 9176 Clearwater Drive Broker Arrow, Oklahoma. Looks like a nice house.
Essentially the bullet out of the AR15 would be a very high velocity .22. He could have killed them with one shot if they were lined up correctly.
