Democrats are smiling in D.C. that the Freedom Caucus, with the help of Club For Growth and Heritage, have saved Planned Parenthood & Ocare!

Oh geeez.
The president would have been better off sitting down with senators involved with the issue like Cotton and Lee and Paul and coming up with a bill the Senate liked and then selling it to the House, rather than vice versa. The big issue is the Senate parliamentarian, not House procedures.
What we got was Ryan and his secret backers writing a bill and trying to dictate it to the House with scare tactics on an absurd schedule. And senators saying Ryan didn’t do his homework on the Senate parliamentarian.
This was all a power play by Ryan and his backers.
The bill was terrible and did not accomplish any repeal of Obamacare. It left if full entact with temporary tweeks that would be reversed in 4 to 8 years. It should never have been presented, and it was a lie that this is the ‘only option’. That’s not on the FC. That’s on Ryan and the swamp. Trump picked poorly from the beginning. The law should have been written with represenatation from the FC from day one and should not have been announced until it had FC approval. Instead a bunch of Ryan lackeys and insurance lobbyists were giving the green light. The whole thing was a joke and needed to be killed. Start fresh and present something new. Not a bastardized version of Obamacare. It’s been 7 years since the last health care reform and decades before that. We have one chance to get it right.
He didn’t leave his comfy life for approval ratings. He wants to do things. The first people who are willing to take him up on his offer are going to have their ideas pushed forward. I think the freedom caucus is in for a surprise if they think they are going to get their way on healthcare because of this.
1. We were told that the GOP House bill could not include a repeal and comprehensive overhaul of ObamaCare because they didn't have 60 votes in the Senate to pass such a bill. Because of this limitation, the House drafted a half-assed "fix" bill that left most of ObamaCare intact.
2. Now, we have the President of the United States and many of the supporters of the Ryan bill criticizing the Freedom Caucus members and their supporters for allowing the Federal funding of Planned Parenthood to continue under ObamaCare.
There is no way in hell the U.S. Senate would ever approve a health care reform bill that defunded Planned Parenthood. There aren't even 50 REPUBLICANS in the U.S. Senate who would support such a thing.
Sorry, Mr. President -- but I'm calling BULLSHIT on this one.
Ugh. He still just doesn’t get it. Apparently either doesn’t care or can’t tell the difference between repeal and rename.
And yes, I find it offensive that his first attempt at legislation has him going after the Freedom Caucus, Jim DeMint, etc. Also, his bogus arguments and claims about Obamacare 2.0 and its passage are doubly offensive.
Other than on immigration, Bannon isn’t looking like he’s got a clue increasingly either. And we know that Priebus and Ryan are foul.
Man, am I just in a snarly mood about all this. I am increasingly feeling as if our country is sunk.
Right—he’s going against the only actual conservatives in Congress for not having backed a bill that has a 17% approval rating...
Totalitarian schmucks.
“Hes crapping on the very people who were enthusiastic and joining at the hip with those who wanted to destroy his candidacy”
I think you’re right. Instead of attacking FC publicly he should take a good look at why they wouldn’t go for this.
For the most part those of us who thought this bill was a POS were Trumps strongest supporters. He needs to be careful he cannot lose any of his base they are all he has.
What he stated was a fact. If the bill passed ocare would have been largely gutted and PP refunded. You can argue on whether or not things would have been better or if it went far enough but that is the reality. Not passing the bill means Obamacare remains law and PP funded
Trump was for PP before he was against it. He is using it as dog whistle to get the pro life crowd barking. But it will end up being funded just like NPR etc.
Seems to me the FC joined up with the progressives to stop any dismantling of Obamacare, so I’m not sure who’s allied with whom anymore.
As I’ve said, maybe the better political argument is just to have more full repeal show votes to be blocked in the Senate than to actually repeal what we can through reconciliation. But, these charlatans like Rand Paul who want to pretend we can get a clean repeal with 51 when Democrats needed exactly 60 to get it into law are doing more damage to the party than anything Trump is doing.
Yeah, this was real unhelpful. Mean-spirited, too, which I’ve never seen out of him.
Because the Freedom Caucus is so obviously pro-0bama Care?
Oh, good. Like a good little Republican, Trump has joined the circular firing squad.
Gross.
It's shocking how many people right here on FreeRepublic don't get something this simple, either.
He is playing 4D chess and wants to light a fire under their a$$ so this doesn’t happen again...
FREEDOM CAUCUS HYPOCRISY!!
Sorry, I disagree. RynoCare was just a re-branding of ObamaCare's big-government "solutions" to big-government created problems.
