Infowars apologized on Friday for its role in perpetuating the "Pizzagate" conspiracy theory that connected a Washington, D.C., pizza restaurant to a child sex ring run by Hillary Clinton.
Talk show host Alex Jones, an avid Trump supporter who runs the site, went on air to read a statement where he personally apologized to James Alefantis, the owner of Comet Ping Pong, which was repeatedly harassed and threatened for its alleged connection to Pizzagate. It was at that restaurant in December that a man from North Carolina walked in and fired a rifle as he looked for evidence supporting the conspiracy theory that there were underground tunnels through which children were trafficked.

There were some researchers in the bunch. But there were also misinformants and there were people inventing stuff for the fun of it. Almost alll of it was quoted without ranking or deeper vetting of sources.

If there is something there, it will come out in time, and through reputable sources, backed up with proof. Not from conspiracy nuts on the internet or reddit.
Agreed. All of us have to guard against the circle of confirmation bias in our daily reading. Absent facts we being taking the opinion of one another to be true. There are many clickbait blogs and news sites that take ample advantage of this for profit. Outlandish headline and lots of conjecture often = money.
The less said about Pizzagate the better. It reminded me of an Escher drawing, full of byzantine corridors, walled off balconies and winding staircases leading nowhere except further out into the cold black space. If the Epstein case exposes child abusers great. Let’s just focus on that one real story.

Yep. I believe that is what happened. Outside of that - what did we know before/after and what we did in response? I am not so certain.
How did Building 7 fall?
Even if it was 100% false, it was a great story for a campaign season — since politicians routinely toss the truth into the trash anyway.
That two teams of terrorists hijacked fully fueled airlines and flew them into two enormous buildings which collapsed, causing other buildings to collapse as well? Yes.
The only viable alternate theories require exactly that to happen as “cover”, obviating the need for the conspiracy.

Be careful about whom you criticize. Roger Stone is a big Infowars guy, as well as being on intimate terms w/Pres. Trump.
I will say this, that crowd is really into pizza. To me that is what lent it some air for credence, even if I wasn't 100% sold on it.
If your sources never retract that is because they are parrots, “squack, ditto, squack, ditto”, but Alex Jones does original research, especially with novel guests.
Information accuracy matters, not retraction. Jones may be around 95%, but somehow NY Times, who may be around a low 10%, gets the attention. That is very odd.
DrudgeReport often links to InfoWars. That is good enough for me.
The only interview in a decade, Matt Drudge gave to InfoWars, and not to FOX or NY Times.

I watch Jones frequently, and I browse Reddit (The Donald) as much as FR. But the Pizzagate thing was a bit out there and too deep in the weeds for my liking. So I don’t know a lot about it. I do recall a video by a guy named Joe Biggs and like any conspiracy theory it made sense at the time, until you actually fact checked some stuff.
It’s too bad if much of it is true (I have no idea), but that’s how the left works - debunk one aspect to make the whole thing a conspiracy.

I don’t know. I am not a structural engineer, but the theory that Bush or some shadowy figure pressed a button to demolish that building is one of the most asinine theories imaginable, but I have read it here multiple times. I have some higher education in demolition, and there are multiple examples of unexpected damage to collateral structures for numerous reasons. Consider that blasters routinely use seismographs to monitor shock waves in the ground and damage to nearby foundations is the reason.
Given the sheer weight that impacted structural concrete when both towers fell on the foundation and open spaces underneath for the transit tunnels it does not seem as outlandish to me as it does to many. The skeletal structures of high rise buildings are often attached to the ground and foundation at far fewer points than one would think. They derive their strength from being in a line (same theory with a newspaper if it is rolled up - surprisingly strong end to end). In fact, the common method for explosives demolition uses far less explosives than one would imagine because the goal is to cut those supports with as little explosives as necessary and gravity and sheer mass does the rest of the work for you to take a structure down.
The lack of understanding of these basic principles that I have seen on the conspiracy sites should be embarrassing for the writer in my humble opinion.

Well Mr. Jones never said any such thing. Just another straw man argument. Now in the case of Sandy Hook all he did was have guests on his show from DIFFERENT perspectives to hash it out. Jones does not endorse the mini nuke claims for 9/11. Further: Mr. Jones? Isn’t that what Mr. Duke called him? LOL. Looks like you are as frustrated with Jones as Duke was. Jones is a lot like Drudge - ie: just a news aggregator. Whatever conclusions he draws from the news items he collects & distributes is a consequence of hosting a radio show where he tends to break down the news items / articles which he does in an off the cuff manner. I think Jones “apologized” because he was threatened with a massive lawsuit which itself begs a question.

o tin foil hat CIA spys on 1000s of US citizens or
