Disgusting: The Freedom Caucus Saves Obamacare Again
american spectator ^ | David Catron

Posted on 03/25/2017 5:33:48 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

AHCA was pulled from the floor yet again this afternoon, and it now is probable that Obamacare will be the law of the land for years to come. This is an utter disaster for U.S. health care, not to mention individual liberty, and the responsibility rests squarely on shoulders of a small cadre of political opportunists with the effrontery to call themselves the “House Freedom Caucus.”

These people held out for the impossible — full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop — and have thus destroyed the only realistic opportunity their party will have in the near future to eradicate the law’s individual and employer mandates, enact entitlement reform, expand HSAs, defund Planned Parenthood, halt the metastasis of Medicaid, and cut its myriad taxes.

Moreover, they have made a mockery of their group’s name by perpetuating the increasingly oppressive and powerful administrative state, leaving their constituents to the tender mercies of Beltway bureaucrats whose contempt for the taxpayers who support them is exceeded only by the breathtaking incompetence with which they mismanage everything they touch.

***Anyone bashing the Freedom Caucus should go on the list of swamp creatures that need to be drained out.***

Agreed. Unfortunately President Trump is one of them. Then accusing them of being for PP? Disgusting.

***this defeat for President Trump is shared by her and her party.***

His defeat is squarely on his shoulders for backing a crap bill and not sticking to his campaign promises.

Freedom Caucus is just a part of the swamp bought and paid for by the lobbyists at the expense of the voters.

I had been waiting for this to happen ever since I heard the words “repeal and replace” Obamacare. I wanted to run around shouting “repeal DON’T replace”. The nature of reality is that ANY part left standing will be a disaster and any replacement, while it MIGHT not be as bad as the original will be worse than nothing. The only way forward is backward to what we had before Obamacare. Those who say otherwise simply have not faced reality. We will never have the healthcare that we need unless we turn it over to people who know what they are doing rather than the current situation which places total incompetents in charge.

they have made a mockery of their group’s name

They have saved the Trump Presidency if he can keep it. Which looks more doubtful all the time. A repeal that merely changed the names of ObamaCare and kept all the worst features would have doomed The Presidency and even a fool should know that.

Stupid author. Freedom Caucus saved our asses. Said before let the true disaster of Obamacare rear it’s ugly head and we will have more power later. This RyanCare crap is worse than ObamaCare. Anyone who says you have to pass in order to find what’s in it. Run.

The original Obamacare bill included $500 billion in Medicare cuts over 10 years.

Not cut repositioned for medicaid big difference.

So the GOP ran in 2010 on a platform of restoring the $500 billion in Medicare cuts -- which they did.

They didn't change Medicaid one bit -- did they?

So the allegedly fiscally responsible Republicans in the House added $500 billion in Federal spending in one fell swoop. Did you really believe them when they claimed that their RyanCare bill was going to cut $1.2 trillion?

Louis Gomert hinted that the insurance lobby wrote this bill, and they were the ones who’d benefit.

I am pretty sure no congressman or committee of congressmen wrote it either.

This nonsense about punishing older Americans is a talking point that started with Nancy Pelosi. Older Americans will suffer under Obamacare as it exists now.

You should select a better grade of B$. The RyanCare bill would have allowed insurance companies to charge up to 4 times as much for older people than younger people. Translate that into old people will pay much higher rates period.

but the Byrd Rule, named after former West Virginia Democrat Sen. Robert Byrd, made it necessary for the House to remove the stipulation.

Except Lyin Ryan lied about that because when the parliamentarian was asked about that she said it wouldn't be a problem. Even if she didn't say that the VP can take his seat as President of the senate and over rule the parliamentarian on any issue.

This seems at odds with the pledge to deport the illegals.

It seems od that DACA still lives as well plus sanctuary schools, city and States are growing as well. He bows down to lowly district judge instead of shutting down all entries until they decide who is in charger, but wait the Maryland Judge is deciding now to Order Trump to double the number of refugees we take in.

what we will get now within the next year or two): SINGLEPAYER.

I hate to break it to you but that was the plan all along and it will happen no matter who is in charge. Politicians are no more in control of the big issue than I am.

federal agencies cannot change provisions of the law while the ACA is still on the books.

They asked Obama for an exemption for themselves and their staff after they passed a law that put the all in ObamaCare so I guess that is a flexible law.

Then what did his executive order do?

It told the IRS not to pursue tax refunds from those that had no ObamCare. In other words don't collect the fine. He did not however fire the Scumbag John Andrew Koskinen IRS director whom Ryan refused to impeach for the lies he told to congress.

The GOP-e is once again assuring the re-election of leftists in 2018.

After a while one begins to see a pattern.

No joke, a lot of these congressmen would be a lot better if they sat in their office and played Solitaire for their entire term.

They have to go across the street now to receive their graft maybe we should change that rule, after all there is no "Controlling Legal Authority" since AlGore said so.

And considering that it must pass the Senate, the Freedom Caucus is basically saying "no healthcare bill...period."

Thank God.

“Without the mandates in o-care, no one except the sickest will voluntarily sign up, and the insurance companies will run away. We end up with a de facto free market, cash and carry system for health care.”

Good luck with your fantasies. Social Security still exists, despite the Republican efforts to get rid of it in the mid-20th century. Obamacare will continue to exist UNLESS there is a CLEAN REPEAL right now.

When Obama was president, there were clean REPEAL bills numerous times. Now, Trump can sign it. So, just bring a clean REPEAL bill! NOW!
