That’s the way it’s supposed to work, yes. And maybe it does more than i think. Regardless, Trump, through executive action, has altered the law and thus can no longer claim his hands are clean.

Do you even understand how government works

Oh yes we do and that is the problem. Some very very fat swamp dwellers tried to buy off the voters with a rotting shreds of carrion while continuing to feast off of fresh carcasses. Appeasing them is not what the Trump revolution is about.

Anyone who doesn't understand that that is how Washington tries to continue to work is an idiot.

Obamacare is a failure falling down around their ears. Don't take it off their hands for nothing. Leave them with the disaster they created.

Since when did this forum become a shill for K-street maneuvers to save what for their paymasters is a really good deal.

It's really amazing, especially given that the owner of this site has stated that he's for full repeal, and not the homobamacare lite turd sammich that lyin' ryan puked up. And yet these chamber of commies shills, whom I suspect are paid trolls, come onto his front porch and p*ss all over it.

What a giant pile of BS. This sounds like Mitt Romney or Karl Rove uniparty-ish wailing and gnashing of teeth. Or a press release from the soros group Indivisible.

The House Freedom Caucus is a die hard group of libertarian conservatives who banded together to stop the “same old, same old” uniparty way of expanding government. I am glad they stood firm and killed this awful 3-phase plan. They are true patriots. Yes, they reluctantly voted for Ryan as speaker. (I talked in person to my congress critter, a founding member. He said they were willing to give him one more shot, period. I also talked to him about this obama care lite thing—he and others were in a tough place—told him it was a very tough decision, but I support him no matter what he does on it.)

Obama care lite: Step 1 did nothing big. Step 2 would have been court-bound and tied up for 2 years as every liberal group sues over Tom Price’s decisions. Step 3 would never come, as it would just die in the senate when everyone’s distracted 2 years from now.

They all ran on complete repeal. Hold their feet to the fire. Do it in the house, send to the senate, then melt the phones. Mitch (rhymes with...) would be forced (for example) to change the filibuster rules to make them actually filibuster instead of just raising their hand. Actually, current rules allow them to limit debate in an actual filibuster right now. I believe each senator can be limited to one (possibly two) actual floor speech per session on a given matter. There are other alternatives available as well, go nuclear for example. Mitch just doesn’t currently have the balls. Force his hand, or remove him.

Ryan needs to be replaced as speaker. If that comes out of this, we won bigly. Trey would be great, for example. Anyone but the perfumed prince backstabbing never-trumper-won’t-work-weekends beta male we now have.

This is what needs to be done:

First, replace Ryan. Period. Strike while the iron is hot, and strike with everything. I’ll be melting the phones on this. It’s our great chance to remove this asshat.

Second, pull all the current exemptions. All of them. Force all the exempt friends of dems onto Obamacare, en mass. Unions, half of Nevada, etc. all exempt. Friends of dems, all. No exemptions for anyone. Current law allows removing exemptions, no problem. Then Obamacare will be radioactive and people from all sides will scream for its repeal. Make it fail by implementing it in full.

Third, pass a clean repeal in the House, with an effective date 4 months after passing. It starts the timer and forces the beta males in charge to do it right. Tort reform, selling across state lines, block grants, etc. Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads.

Fourth, force the senate to get with the program and stop the “60 votes or nothing” game. Put them on the spot, force individual senators to state their positions. Put the blinding glare spotlight squarely on them.

It will get done using this plan.

The death spiral won’t be kind to them.

The Death Spiral exists as long as the government is involved. There is no magic bullet. No bill can ever be created to fix this. As long as government is involved, healthcare will be ungodly expensive.

Totally agree. The thing is going to die a horrid death, which it was designed to do. At that point the dems will have to come to the table.

The media will portray it as all trumps fault. Media will call for one payer system to rescue hundreds of millions of uninsured.

He needs to pick his battles very carefully. Gursuch is the big next. . Without Gorsuch then it’s real bad. Tax relief for sure.

The idealogue Cruz people sided with Obama.

This article is complete B.arbara S.treisand! Thank God for the Freedom Caucus (BTW — the Freedom Caucus was less than half of the opposition against this craptastic RyanRINOcare Bill so to “blame” them for the FAILure is ridiculous — more moderates opposed it) in opposing this POS which would have done nothing more than CEMENT 0bamacare firmly in place! Anyone that believed there would EVER be a “phase two” and “phase three” is delusional! Ryan, McCarthy and their merry band of big government RINOmorons were lying to you the WHOLE time. This Bill was designed and typed up by the big insurance lobbyists which Paul RINO is beholden to; I mean, even his wife is a DimocRAT Progressive D.C. lobbyist!

Right, such BS. Ryan didn’t even invite conservatives to the table to incorporate CONSERVATIVE values.

I’d love to see Jim Jordan or Dave Brat, someone like them, to be speaker. Let’s get a solid conservative into that position.

The Freedom Caucus did the right thing!

Obamacare is now going to provide a "teachable moment" when it completely implodes.

I’ve read similar, on a few MSM outlet’s headlines.

We’ll have to agree to disagree.

The author’s basic premise here is B.S. The Freedom Caucus opposed RyanCare simply because it would have been politically disastrous for them to support it.

That is how I see it too. Conservatives dodged a bullet by not passing RyanCare(RC). Rand Paul is a straight shooters and he called RC, ObamaCare(OC) lite. Passing RC would have put gop fingerprints all over a bad healthcare bill, now Rats totally own OC. All the experts seems to think OC is going to implode on it's own anyway so politically let this stone on the rats neck drown them in the swamp they created.

We should be thanking conservatives in the House (and Senate) not blasting them. They probably just saved the Trump presidency. Trump get credit for trying, Rats get the blame. In 2 or 3 years OC will be repealed and replaced with something much better.

These people held out for the impossible — full repeal of Obamacare in one fell swoop —

This is the ONLY possible step. We know what happens when the tax increases are immediate, and spending cuts promised later. REPEAL NOW. Complete.

Exactly! This 0bamanation 0bamadoesn'tcare is too important to allow a big government RINO like Paul RINO to lie that it "could not be repealed without 3 phases." Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, and Rand Paul all said it was B.arbara S.treisand, and the Senate Parliamentarian told them so!

Paul RINO is either a LIAR or a COWARD. I submit that he is both, and he should have NEVER been re-elected as Speaker with so much on the line! We may NEVER have all three branches to do things like this, and he is the WRONG guy to have as leader!

I blame all of them especially Ryan, but yes the Freedom Caucus probably ensured that any new bill will be more liberal, and America is stuck with Obamacare. I’m sorry but that’s not good.

RINOs showed them selves to be spineless, they passed OCare repeal when they knew it was meaningless with Obama in the white House but will not do the same with a Republican in the White House. Hypocrites.

Again, as you just agreed to, President Trump’s altered NOTHING, as long as the law is in place.

So, his hands are perfectly clean.

Good grief.

The GOP-e set itself up by voting a half dozen times a FULL REPEAL of obamacare over the past several years. Now, they want to piecemeal it with phases and promises. WHY???

The House should take the full repeal bill voted on in the past and send it over to the Senate. McConnell and then gut a taxing or spending bill, and place this repeal as an amendment. Therefore, over 51 votes are necessary. IIRC, that is exactly how Reid and the dems treated this bill when they passed it.

Second line in my post above should have been in quotes. I always forget the HTML codes when I come to FR. I wish that the software would be changed from this 1990s era nonsense!

They're not going to end Obamacare because they like Obamacare.

This was one of the signature issues of the 2016 campaign. All the tough talk, which I bought.

Their stance was all a huge lie, just more Campaign Conservatism.

Don't look now, but if this was a lie, so were stances on Illegal Immigration, Dodd/Frank and Deficit Reduction.
