Once my therapy was complete, they gave me a sheet of daily exercises and another sheet of harder exercises for two to three times a week. It’s helped immensely in a number of areas.

COUNT BASIE: I WONT SAY I WILLIt was said that Basie played only a few notes on the piano, but they were always the right ones. This live recording from the Thirties is very naughty and a lot of fun.

Stuff with menthol in it is good. Ibuprofen helps with inflammation.
Glad your lessons are ready to start again.

Yes...I got the sheet of exercises too, and even some bands to facilitate the work.
But even with that, it didn’t take long. I think it is because the problem wasn’t one injury, but ongoing arthritis.

One of my little students noticed how I had taped up my wrist and asked me why. I explained that I had a “boo boo inside my bones”.
He said, “Eyew...if it’s INSIDE your BONES, I can’t kiss it and make it better!”

My issue was osteoarthritis. For years, Feldene was the anti-inflammatory that worked.
Once my issues progressed beyond that, I ended up taking Indomethacin when my problems flared up. That's normally prescribed for gout, but it did the job when I had a problem.
You may need something stronger than over-the-counter pain remedies.

GEORGE GERSHWIN
NIFTIES OF 1923
PICCADILLY REVELS: NASHVILLE NIGHTINGALEThis is British dance band music from 1927, and they do a fine job. Note that with electric recording and microphones, you get a clearer hint of what this music actually sounded like live, and the bass lines come through cleanly. This is a British version of Le Jazz Hot.

I've run across some fine British dance band recordings on this journey, and they have been underrated for decades.
The next entry, coming in a few minutes, will make you pull out your hankie. George was developing the melodic ability to go straight for the heart.

Although they are several decades apart, British Dance Bands were where Van Morrison got his start in the Business. He used to do the horn arrangements.

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
GEORGE GERSHWIN
PRIMROSEThis show from 1924 was written and staged in London, where it ran for several years. It wasnt staged here until the Seventies. Desmond Carter was the lyricist, and the songs have more in common with Gilbert & Sullivan than Broadway.
JUDY KAYE: ISNT IT WONDERFUL?This song should be better known; only Gershwin could have written a melody that takes your breath away like this. Your screen will go blurry at the end.

KIRI TE KANAWA: BOY WANTEDNew Zealands favorite opera soprano recorded a version in 1987 that gives you a feeling of what the song sounded like in the show. Gershwin was conversant with the music of Gilbert & Sullivan, and it shows.

THE SAVOY ORPHEANS: WAIT A BIT, SUSIEGershwins songs for this show were recorded liberally in England, but they were almost unknown here until 50 years later when the show received its American premiere. This is typical British jazz dance band music.
