President Trump delivered an ultimatum to House Republicans on Thursday night: Vote to approve the measure to overhaul the nations health-care system on the House floor Friday, or reject it and the president will move on to his other legislative priorities.
The president signaled that the time for negotiations was over with rank-and-file Republicans who were meeting late at night on Capitol Hill to try to find common ground on the embattled package crafted by House Speaker Paul D. Ryan (R-Wis.).
The move was a high-risk gamble for the president and speaker, who have both invested significant political capital in passing legislation that would rewrite the 2010 Affordable Care Act. For Trump, who campaigned as a skilled negotiator capable of forging a good deal on behalf of Americans, it could either vindicate or undercut one of his signature claims. If the measure fails, it would mean that Obamacare something that congressional Republicans have railed against for seven years would remain in place.
Disastrous #Obamacare has led to higher costs & fewer options. It will only continue to get worse! We must #RepealANDReplace. #PassTheBill, Trump tweeted from his official White House account as the meeting was wrapping up Thursday night.

I think he should walk away from this issue, and move onto something really important.
Like global trade.
Just saying.
Maybe he’s getting ready to walk because he knows it sucks.
Ultimatums are not how you do deals.
I call BS on this.
Good.
Move on.
The attendants of Fedzilla in Congress have never had any intention of repealing Obamacare and reducing the power Fedzilla derives from Obamacare, not one federal agency created by Obamacare would be removed by Ryancare. All medical records would still be collected by Fedzilla under Ryancare.
He's setting Ryan up for failure.
Trump and Bannon know who's on their side.
Trump knows darn well that Ryan is the enemy.
I say move on.
Let’s wait until Paul Ryan can be crippled.
We don’t need the government in our health care.
Options:
1) The Houses actually passes RyanCare in whatever its current state is — GOPe gets what it wants, but the Senate probably kills it. Trump won’t be sad.
2) The House fails to pass anything. The US suffers while ObamaCare implodes. Trump is the winner and can tell everyone he really, really wanted to replace it. The GOPe, however, cannot say the same. Trump won’t be sad.
I see no likely downside for the President. He will move on and do other great things. Later, after the implosion, he will come back to this issue and say, “We tried your way, now let’s try the marketplace ...”
Obamacare will not implode. Implode has no meaning. It is fully funded with budget mechanism. You want them gone? Find 60 votes. You want the mechanism gone with fewer than 60? That’s called budget Reconciliation. It stays, it gets funded. You think it will cost too much? It’s just more bonds issued by Treasury for the Fed to buy.
There is no implode. It will be there forever. Because you didn’t want to get rid of any part of it at all.
Ryan was right. 100% right. That is one brilliant guy. From day 1, THIS is the closest you’ll ever get. Never again will there be a chance.
You obviously haven’t read this book or it was beyond your understanding.
May be best to let it crash. Make the demos fix it. Let them wear this around their necks. If they cannot come up with a plan, then it’s time to push the issue and for republicans to take over.
Very interesting...
Let it implode. Pass laws making all that voted for 0bamacare pay for it when it implodes. Seize assets, income and prison if they can’t pay until they do pay. Do the same with the deficit.
Mr. President! MOVE ON!
LOL
Yes it is.
I do it all the time.
Fit my objectives and timeline or I just move on.
No need to get bogged down on one of objective.
Lots more to do...
I don’t blame him. He’s invested too much capital - not to mention time, blood, sweat, etc. He knows when to walk away from a losing hand and he should let Ryan and the party take the blame.
Please, Mr. President, move on to tax cuts! We’ll find out real quick if the GOP is with him or against him and can vote traitors out of office next election, if they sill have a chance of holding on to the majority.
Ask yourselves, what are they the majority party of exactly? It certainly doesn’t look like they want to follow what the people voted for!!!
Unfortunately, I agree.
Obama are will fall on its own weight. Si be it. The Democrats own it.
The president will take a hit too, but Ryan is the one who gets damaged on this. I think that was the goal all along despite the president’s public posturing for this bill.
