Members of the intelligence community collected ‘incidental’ communications of the Trump transition team during legal surveillance operations, producing ‘dozens’ of reports which eventually unmasked several individuals’ identities and which were ‘widely disseminated,’ a top lawmaker said Wednesday afternoon. House Intelligence Chairman Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., said none of the reports he had read mentioned Russia or Russians and he was unsure whether the surveillance occurred at Trump Tower. Nunes also was unsure if then President-elect Trump was captured by the surveillance, which occurred in November, December and January. “I recently confirmed on numerous occasions the intelligence community incidentally collected intelligence,” Nunes said.

Not really. He was getting hammered before he blue the whistle on Obama's surveillance of a Presidential candidate and then the President elect. When he said that, I knew he had a plan. It was a high wire act or like a Samurai precise cut and timing. I'm old enough to know and have played enough high stakes poker to know .... Here's what I suspect happened (and it's very similar to what you've presented):
1. The Obama administration -- in collusion with the Clinton campaign -- conducted potentially illegal surveillance on the Trump campaign. This surveillance began at least as far back as June or July of 2016.
2. They were never concerned about getting caught because they assumed Clinton would win the election and the surveillance would never be exposed.
3. Clinton lost the election -- a scenario beyond anyone's wildest imagination at the time.
4. Everyone involved with the surveillance realized that the incoming president and his new administration will have access to all of the internal dealings of the agencies involved in the surveillance ... and says a collective: "Holy sh!t -- what do we do now?!"
5. With the cooperation of their media/propaganda partners, all of these characters start running around in November and December spreading baseless stories about "Russian hacking" of the 2016 election -- for the sole purpose of retroactively justifying the surveillance that they knew was going to get exposed.
In other words, the whole Russian story was a complete hoax. It wasn't mainly aimed at damaging Trump, but at justifying surveillance by the Obama administration that may very well have been illegal.

For anyone interested in more facts not being reported, listen to today’s TruNews Daily Recap. One example: In an recent EO, just hours before PDJT was to sign it, staffers happened to notice that some of the original wording had been changed. Someone had taken out DJT’s words and substituted language that was more in line with Obama’s policy wrt “radical Islamic terrorism”. They scrambled to quickly restore it.
There are more examples within this broadcast, but this showed me not only how firmly entrenched the globals are within our gov’t, but the lengths they are willing to go. I just think they will never back down, and even though they lost, they will never give up, and will go “scorched earth”.

Why would one waste time, money and resources eavesdropping on the campaign of a political opponent one openly disrespects and feels confident they will easily beat? I don’t get that part of the equation.

Just my opinion....
They are so arrogant and appalled that anyone outside their own exclusive club would dare (and succeed) to challenge them. Even though they thought they were going to win, they decided to obliterate him so he would never again pose a threat to the system (and be a “lesson” for anyone else who may get the same idea).
I think this was their intent with the Russian connection meme, in that they knew it was bogus, they made it up, thinking they would be in charge and their nefarious activities would remain covered up.
So, there it is.
