By about 3 p.m. Friday, a county morgue in east Ohio was already full and more bodies were expected.
Rick Walters, an investigator for the Stark County coroner's office, had just left for two death scenes: a suicide and an overdose.
From the road, he called the director of the Ohio Emergency Management Agency to ask for help. He needed more space, he explained specifically, a cold-storage trailer to act as an overflow morgue.
As with much of the United States, Ohio is in the throes of a heroin and opioid epidemic that shows no signs of abating.

Good thing knee-jerk snark is allowed when commenting online, eh?
Alcohol is a drug—the worst one on the face of the earth—worse than all other drugs combined.
And a huge percentage of drug overdoses occur because drugs are illegal. But you already knew that.
And, hey, who cares about annoying things like the Constitution when there's a phony Drug War to be fought...
Just say “NO!” Problem solved. If not, then raise taxes. That works EVERY time....maybe..
You would be wrong. There are Poppy fields in Mexico, that’s exactly where this *hit is coming from. I watched a Netflix show and you would not believe the purity of the crystal meth coming from there too. They just got some illegals in Butler county Ohio with a pound of it. They need to start shooting these bastages crossing the border, this is a war. One of my own dear young friends made national news last year, shot in the head with her baby in the car. It’s a wonder the poor child didn’t freeze to death before they found her.
The gene pool getting a little cleansing.
The little secret here is the fact that George Soros is making a good share of his money from the heroin trade.
I'm with you. I think something is up.
One would think. But they are peddling something called “dope”.
CC
Heroin deaths in my area have skyrocketed.
Only the ones who are in the "to each" column ala Marx
I don’t think there is anything wrong with their genes. They’re just dumb kids in a modern environment that is much more dangerous than a generation ago. They still are responsible for their actions but who is teaching these kids about consequences, single parents and Leftist teachers and Hollywood.
The problem is the dealers are mixing it with Fentanyl, that’s why people are over dosing. Heroin in and of itself is not that bad, the genetically weak are predisposed to it.
The only reason Keith Richards gave up heroin is because he couldn’t get pure anymore.
Most businesses don't want to kill their customers.
CDC agrees. See post #39.
I’m so glad I kicked my drug habit years ago. Today’s drugs are so much stronger. Doubt I’d be alive if I hadn’t quit. Thank you Lord.
Sure dick.
heard that before.
Duterte time!!
Why would that disproportionately affect Appalachia?
Among many other injuries i broke my collarbone during a dirt bike accident.
When i complained to the doctor about the pain i was feeling while trying to sleep at night he prescribed me a big bottle of morphine pills.....just like that.
I mentioned my concern about getting addicted and the doc told me that if i do not WANT to get addicted i won’t.
No generic stuff a BIG bottle of morphine pills.
Still sitting in the closet 6-7 years later, i took like 4 of them.

“Heroin in and of itself is not that bad”
Seriously?!?! Compared to what—Ebola?
I highly doubt you can defend your statement!
It's true. I stay active in Narcotics Anonymous, there are a lot more opiod deaths. Oxy didn't help, but there's a assload more heroin out there too. Mexico started making it.
They have. And it is a nationwide occurrence.
