Cotton: Obamacare Replacement Will Put the GOP House Majority at Risk
Breitbart ^ | March 12, 2017 | by Pam Key

Posted on 03/12/2017 12:33:39 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” while discussing the Republican plan to repeal and replace Obamacare, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) said he was “afraid if they vote for the bill, they’ll put the House majority at risk next year.”

Cotton said, “As it’s written today, this bill cannot pass the Senate. I believe it would have adverse consequences for millions of Americans and wouldn’t deliver on our promises to reduce the cost of health insurance to Americans. I would say to my friends in the house of representatives, with whom I serve, do not walk the plank and vote for a bill that cannot pass the Senate and then have to face the consequences of that vote. George, you were in the White House in 1993. You remember when House Democrats voted for a BTU energy tax. Not only did that not become law, it didn’t get a vote in the Senate. And those Democrats lost their next election because they voted on that tax. They call it getting BTU’d. I don’t think this bill can pass the Senate. And therefore, I think the house should take a pause and try to get as close as we can to a good result before they send to it the Senate.”

Invoking fear is no way to sell legislation.

I thought Cotton was smarter and classier than this.

We now see how the deck is stacked against the common folk of this land... again. Entrenched dishonesty in both parties.

Real and do not replace.

That fact that people have to forced to have coverage (or pay a fine) should make it obvious to all that "loss of coverage" is a phony issue.

I wonder if Ryan would use the new plan for his family.

I HATE that guy.

Repeal and do not replace with government tax run Ryan care as it would destroy the GOP and President Trump, tell Ryan to take his filthy hands off our once capitalist health care that worked well with out government bureaucrats adding and charging for their incompetent health care policies and taxes.
No more taxes please and thank you Mr.Cotton.

The Republicans are not worried about re-election. If they lose an election after voting for a Chamber of Congress bill they will be handsomely rewarded with new jobs that pay better than Congress.

the mandate is being removed....gone....period.

But it's like life insurance, buy young and it's cheap....try buying it at 70...it's NOT cheap.

Same with car insurance....a BMW vs a malibu

Ryan care is obamacare lite, I hope you know, and would be a disaster for all taxpayers and owned by the right if the conservative coalition loses the battle to make it capitalistic and not just obamacare lite with a rino name.

So one of the only differences is that with RyanCare, the Republicans found a way to make the penalty go to their friends in the insurance industry, instead of the government?

Jim, there is no path to repeal short of playing hardball. They can’t get it through the Senate unless they blow up the rules and do away with the filibuster.

Cruz’ idea to bring VP Pence to substitute for the Senate Parliamentarian is the same as blowing up the rules. It won’t be a repeal, it will be a demolition, not a repeal.

The President is going to have to unleash AG Sessions to go after the democrats where they are weak which is in abding by the law.

Right now the democrats are laughing because they know the republicans can’t get a repeal with steering the country to full-blown mob rule democracy.

That’s why prison time has to be held out as a reality that’s coming. Then the democrats won’t be laughing and 60 votes to repeal Obamacare will be a spring tea party.

If insurance companies want to offer health insurance then they will do so on their own terms. Insurance is a job for businesses. Not governments.

Repeal and do not replace.

Repeal or bust!

If you can’t repeal it, let Obamacare crash and burn on its own.

Wrong, the government mandate of Ryan care is changed into a 30% charge paid to the insurance companies that support rino and dem politicians election funds, bribes is what would happen and health care would remain more expensive and as worthless as obamacare with a GOP name and hang the conservative republicans by their necks, if they pass Ryan care as is.

Too many of them want to continue their racketeering ways.
They actually miss minority status.

Repeal without replacement is good, Cotton is a good man who knows that the Ryan care is obamacare lite, truth be told.

Yes, Ryan is a Rino if the truth be told and he is not as smart as he is pretty.
