If, like us, you strongly agree with the concept of an extremely cheesy burger, its probably worth getting down to Maxwells restaurant in Covent Garden, stat.

Mmmm Hmmm!

Texans will deep fry anything. Like deep fried beer...
My husband has a sort of famous relative who’s pretty uppity. He went to dinner with her, years ago, at a fancy restaurant, and he committed the faux pas of cutting into his fish with the side of his fork, and she nearly slayed him with a wilting look, making him feel foolish and out of place. He knew better, but he just wasn’t thinking. Manners are nice, but it would have perhaps been more gracious, and therefore more proper, if she had either ignored his mistake, or picked up her fork and copied him. (I eat pizza with a knife and fork until it cools off enough to handle. It tastes good, either way).
I read how a fellow wanted to use his chopsticks properly before he made a trip to China. He studied with a cultural institute on how to use them when dining. Everything turned out well for his trip, until he then found himself on a subsequent tour in South Korea. He went out dining with local friends, who commented how he was using his chopsticks “like a Chinese”.
Seems like there’s a smothered fries dish in every region. In Springfield, Illinois, they put fries on a hamburger patty, on a plate, and cover it with cheese sauce. They call it a pony. In Oklahoma, they cover the patty and fries with brown gravy, and call it a hot hamburger. (I think they put a slice of bread under the patty) Of course, “cheese fries” with bacon and green onions are everywhere, now. I like real cheese, though. Not that watered down cheese liquid.
LOL! Some days, a person would do well to stay in bed.
It’s been a while since I’ve traveled over there. Have they figured out how to actually make ground beef for a burger or is it still ground so fine that it’s more like sausage?
Nah...I don't care for that type of cheese.
Manners are nice,

The best manners are to ignore all other’s faux pas
Don’t know, but I can relate to beef being ground too fine. I always have to talk to the butcher whenever I make chili, because a) I want the proper fat content; and b) I want the proper grind. I don’t want a “burger” grind for chili; I prefer a much coarser grind.
That's actually an old southern traditional favorite. Pimento cheese. The locally made hot variety is to me especially good. http://www.mustenandcrutchfield.com Most of what you'd encounter in the grocery chains or in restaurants is entirely too dependent upon mayonnaise as an ingredient, though. The best I've ever had was made by my late aunt, she used three kinds of cheese and ground it herself with an old manual meat grinder that she kept just for that purpose.
The best manners are to ignore all others faux pas.
You’re right. Remember the scene with the poor kid and the maple syrup, in “To Kill A Mockingbird”? I like to think that scene sunk in with more than a few.
The height of good manners is making your guests comfortable. If a silverware formality such as that was such a major issue that it had to be corrected, there are far gentler, less embarrassing ways.
Some ketchup with those fries and we’re talking!
You’re right. But this person happens to be pretty vain. Ah, well, she got the goat by the wrong horn, didn’t she?
Not true... anything deep fried is excellent
It is the cheese on the outside. Just makes it sloppy and requires knife and fork. I prefer my cheese on the burger
How about inside the burger? Check out post #36 with the Juicy Lucy!
The best burger where I live .. a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger with fries .. Awesome !!!
I like them because they are smaller than the usual hamburger, but are more than satisfying.
Actually, it’s England. Malt vinegar for the fries
Another failed effort by the brits to enter the world of significant food cuisine.
Pub grub, bread pudding and beef wellington are OK.
