This is the Washington Examiner, not The Washington Post.

Fake News.

Trump is going to force EVERYONE to pass a decent bill.
Conservative. RINO, liberal- they ALL face his wrath.

The examiner is a conservative paper. I hope this isn’t true but he needs a R&R bill pretty bad. Ryan knows this so he stuck us with this POS. If he’s really willing to go after conservative reps in primaries then we’ve been betrayed.

RIGHHT!
When President Trump SAYS it I believe it. When unnamed sources say it I do not believe it.

How about primarying the RINOs who oppose full repeal?

Well, I more pay attention to Twitter, and what I heard him say there is that he’s listening to us and our worries about this bill.

I prefer to believe what Trump himself says than what some unnamed source says he said in some fake newspaper.

The real question is how are they going to get to phase 3 (in their theory picking up 8 more senators) in the aftermath of phase 1.

The big lie is that they can’t repeal it because they are using the reconciliation bill process. Levin has been pointing out how bogus that is, and that the GOPe is using that as an excuse not to repeal what they promised for 6 years they would repeal if only voters would get them all three of a GOP house, senate and president.

As Levin has pointed out, any and every bit of Obamacare affects the budget and so could be addressed according to a plain reading of the reconciliation rule. However, beyond that, as Larry Kudlow (a previous deputy director of the OMB) has been pointing out for months that the GOP can and should replace the current Democrat-appointed parliamentarian with one of their own, whom they could count on ruling for them on this.

But even if they don’t replace the parliamentarian and she turns their bill down, it is within the senate rules for Pence to come in and overrule her.

So the whole bit about having to repeal it in stages (and the supposed excuse for not screening out illegals correctly in this 2.0 version of Obamacare) is a made up excuse by the GOPe/uniparty who simply don’t want to repeal Obamacare.

They are just going through some motions and pushing stuff around and renaming other stuff to claim that somehow that is what they are doing.

It is sickening.

And worst of all is Trump threatening to primary and campaign against the conservative wing of the GOP (the freedom caucus) in his very first engagement with congress.

That is double sickening.

“conservative” or “liberal,” I don’t believe it either way. Not when unnamed sources are referred to and we’re expected to believe them.

I hope you’re right that this is fake news. This bill doesn’t sound good.

Unnamed “sources” are believable only when the news is good. This news is not good.

Why on earth do you believe a newspaper story without a named source that contradicts what Jim DeMint actually SAID about the meeting with Trump?

Don’t be gullible. There is no honest news source, and when you get a paper referring to unnamed sources, you can be sure it’s a lie.

Didn’t we learn our lesson from the amnesty kerfuffle two weeks ago? That was an outright lie and so many of us looked like idiots for believing it.

Actually I think this story is likely accurate, but to appreciate it, you have to examine the process, and what President Trump and Ryan are trying to accomplish.

But to start, DO NOT get caught up in the foolishness of trying to get emotional “moral victories” instead of *real* victories.

Moral victory: “We lost the battle terribly, which will likely also make us lose the war. But we showed the enemy how brave we are and how willing to be valiantly slaughtered for *the cause*.”

Real victory: “While we came out even with the enemy in the number of casualties, we cost them a fortune in lost weapons and equipment, giving us a big advantage in the next battle and the ones after that. So we didn’t win the battle, but we are more likely win the war.”

In the case of Obamacare, it is a huge monster that cannot (literally) be taken down with a single vote. But President Trump has already canceled its individual tax, and instructed the IRS to not punish people for not paying it; and he has instructed the government to start dismantling it.

No real fireworks there, but it was a big thing.

Now with this bill, another part of the monster will be taken down. NOT the whole thing, but a substantial part. And THEN another big part will be taken down in the 12 appropriations bills that will wind their way through congress.

It is going to be a long process to completely get rid of the damned thing. No way around it. But at a given point it will be like an insect whose juices have been sucked out by a spider, nothing left but a shell.

And there will be little fanfare then. No great moral victory or parades through the street. But the tumor will be gone and the patient will be cancer free.

IIRC, the House Republicans have passed several alternatives to nobamacare. Are all of those no good? Seems like they are rushing this.

Dear Freepers, whenever, a no fact/fake news bs story like this is posted without naming the sources.

Do two things:

#1. Take a deep breath, the liberals and Trump haters delight in poking you in the eye with fake/no fact news.

#2. Then, take a Baby Aspirin and cool down. You don’t need to stroke out over a bs fake/no facts not even news post, aka GIGO!

+1. I hope to God he is listening to us. I need to remember (we all do) that Trump is a newbie. Just barely a month into the job here. And as such he may say some stuff that is later fine tuned as reactions pour in.

Also - this is just the beginning of a long and tedious process. And what with the Rats fighting repeal and replace on every level - it will not be a broken promise if ObamaCare is not undone.

I don’t trust Ryan.

Trump, however, has shown to be trustworthy. I’m going to continue to trust him until he gives me a solid reason not to.

Trump wants a smooth transition from Obamacare to the new plan. There are many people covered under Obamacare that previously had no coverage. Trump does not want to yank the rug out from them and leave them suddenly uncovered.

Also, remember that this is not the final version of the bill, not by a longshot. If Trump doesn’t like the final version, he’ll either veto it or issue a signing statement.

I think we have two choices. Take this or deal with Obamacare as it devolves. Of course we could make it somewhat better. But they did not give us the senate. They gave us a slight majority.

We do own this problem whether we fix it or not. It will not be lost on anybody that we had both houses of congress and the presidency and let the problem get worse. We need to do the best we can now. And if our majority strengthens we can continue fixing. If not, we did what we can while we had the chance.

As republicans we have been given a small leash. If we do well we may get a bigger leash. But if we do poorly or nothing, the leash will be given back to the other dogs.

Its simple make America better, not perfect, just better. Then we can hope to get another two years and make it better still.
