FACT: ObamaCare was passed, using the original legislative vehicle, at 1:38am on 12/23/09 with 60 votes in the Senate. The House then approved that Senate Bill without changes; and in February 2010 created a secondary bill which created the opportunity for the Senate to modify ObamaCare using reconciliation for a lower vote threshold of 51 votes.
[Understand the full construct by reading HERE] If you do not understand how legislation is created; if you do not understand the difference between the Senate and House; if you do not understand the way ObamaCare was created, you really need to read this first.
A clean repeal bill, meaning a law to repeal the entire ObamaCare construct only, would require another 60 vote hurdle in the Senate.
Republicans, while in the majority, only control 52 seats. Without 8 Democrats voting to approve a repeal bill, any House (Or Senate) bill that repeals ObamaCare cannot pass the Senate.
This is why Mark Levin is a con-man; selling snake oil as outrage to keep a listening audience angry, yet clueless and hopeless. Thats what I dont like.
A complete repeal of ObamaCare is currently impossible. The House Freedom Caucus can push all the repeal bills they want, but they cannot get a repeal bill through the Senate because they cannot get the 60 votes needed. Period.
A complete independent repeal bill of ObamaCare is currently impossible.

Pale pastels make me sick. Raise a banner of bold colors!
ABSOLUTELY!
Don’t let the worms off.
Defund it.
How many times have I told trumpets that Trump would pull this crap with the Rinos, if they don’t repeal this I am proven right.
I want to be wrong, but you guys are making me right.
No half margins
Spot on.
How did they get a repeal bill on Obama’s desk then?
Are you out of your mind?
How can you posit the opposite of what I said?
And it doesn’t change his idiotic/dishonest remarks. I just don’t bother with them much.
Because the repeal bill, had it been signed, would have repealed Obamacare without any replacement. It would have been a disaster. The only reason that the Republicans did it was that they knew Obama would not sign it. It was a political stunt.
This is their last chance, I will be gone, no more money, no more anything.
These guys think we are going to allow us to be played again?
Thank you for reminding us of those hard facts. Trump should be sending out informed talkers to do exactly this while on the air. Hopefully, he is preparing others for this task. KellyAnne can’t handle everything. Paul Ryan should be more helpful, but perhaps he is too busy.
Maybe this is why Trump will be meeting with Ted Cruz tommorow.
“There’s nothing sacred about a 60-vote majority in the Senate.”
Yeah, I like the concept of the filibuster, but more often than not, it seems that the GOP horse trades so that they can vote for legislation they know will never pass the 60-vote threshold. “See, we tried, but the Democrats filibustered us”.
Strip away the filibuster and let’s see how many Republicans, confronted with being able to pass real conservative legislation with a simple majority, reveal themselves as nothing more than liberal-to-moderate social democrats, by voting against said conservative legislation. In theory, having that kind of clear voting record in the public domain, it should be possible to dislodge some GOPe incumbents during primary season.
The only guy saying repeal every word was Cruz and he lost.
Yep, you guys voted for the wrong guy!
How did we get it to Obama’s desk multiple times????
How did we get a bill to repeal Obamacare multiple times that Obama vetoed?
I don’t care, do it again
Then we can work on the replacement
BS all around!
RIGHT ON!
Tell them to do their job!
Maybe Democrats will be more cooperative when they know this ACA is going to vaporize?
YOU THINK!
YES!!!!
“No it’s not because healthcare costs are completely unsustainable. “
Okay I think maybe we are talking past each other. I am saying any “replacement bill” should be all market reforms of pre-Obamacare rules (such as buying ins. out of state) plus enhanced HSA rules plus ability for folks to joins pools (like health sharing, which already exists, except the pools would be insurance). I don’t think there should be any subsidies for premiums, nor should the Feds be telling us what is in our insurance policies. We should deal with the pre-existing condition issue by giving everyone say two years to buy insurance or cobra.
So you want to cancel all the current policies issued by the Exchanges and terminate the Medicaid expansion in those States that have opted for it?
