No health saving account are
You open a saving account that you do not pay taxes on.
When you have an illness you pay doctor and medical bills from that account You have a specific amount you can put in every year and can therefore add to the balance. It is an asset that can be transfered yo other family members. My dad had one. His 2-3 thousand a year ended up being 150 thousand. It was wiped out with one illness. Even with Medicare
But for those doctor visits and little things it works well. It’s just not good for major medical.

I think the health savings account along with a catastrophic plan would be great you don’t pay any taxes on the savings and catastrophic plans are usually very cheap!!!
Secretary Price just let the cat out of the bag. Governors would never allow ACA to be totally repealed because they’re dependent on it. I think i’m depressed.
Health savings accounts are great. We both had one but when one goes on medicare you can’t add money any more. I wonder if you can have a health saving account under this new plan when your on medicare?

Yep, 8 years of promises to repeal then Price says tonight, that will never happen. When GOP loses it’s because they’ve screwed over the base so bad we just stay home. They’re looking at that in 2018.
I never had insurance. I went to the dr when I needed to and paid for it myself. Because I had no insurance the drs didn't prescribe me any medication even if I needed it because it was so expensive. They'd tell me to get OTC stuff and get insurance.
Then I was forced to get insurance because it became law. Due to my income (I do pay income tax, RE and School taxes), I ended up on Medicaid. Now the drs over prescribed. I pay $1.00 for prescriptions, $0.00 for office visit or tests. THIS IS WRONG. Someone is paying for me. I should be paying something.
I find the medical system is a scam.
Meanwhile a local gal has no job, has 3 children, big dogs, a SUV, beautiful new teeth, is on welfare, food stamps the whole nine yards and gets a huge refund. I pay for her children's schooling through school taxes.
If people can have children, have a car, have a house, have pets, surely they can set aside money for their own personal health! Why are they rewarded?

I never in my life had insurance either, I always paid out of my pocket I was self employed after I turned 58 I went and got a job at a grocery chain so I could get health insurance I work only 24 hours a week to keep my insurance!!! It is NOT the governments job to give huge tax credits for having children either!!!

I am in a room where my chargers not long enough to reach the wall outlet so I am going from one iPad to another iPad. When I purchased my new iPad I signed up to FR as a new member didn’t remember my password and didn’t want to wait for a response to get a new password so that is why I have two different screen names!!! Did your father not have a supplemental insurance to cover the 20% that Medicare doesn't cover? My husband has had 2 aortic valve replacements, 4 bypasses, 1 stent in heart and one in his leg. Bleed in brain, doctors visits continually and routine lab work. Between Medicare and the supplement we purchased (the best one) we have never had to pay out anything over what the insurances cost us.
