Obama administration denies Towergate: Insiders blast Donald Trump's claims Obama wire-tapped his phones at Trump Tower before the election in 'Nixon/Watergate' style scandal

Trump has accused Obama of wire tapping his phones at Trump Tower on Twitter

The president tweeted that Obama had been spying on him in October

He claims the phones in Trump Tower were 'tapped' before his election victory

A former senior intelligence official said 'it's highly unlikely there was a wiretap'

According to official, wiretap can't be directed at US facility, without probable cause the phone lines were being used by agents of a foreign power

The Obama administration has denied President Donald Trump's claims that Barack Obama wire-tapped his phones at Trump Tower before the election.

Ben Rhodes, the former policy advisor for Obama, blasted Trump's accusations on Twitter: 'No President can order a wiretap. Those restrictions were put in place to protect citizens from people like you.'

Rhodes' response came shortly after Trump fired off a flurry of tweets early Saturday morning claiming that the former president had been spying on him in October, a month before his election victory.

'Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism!'

Geezus, Trump better have the goods

Yep. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

This is a make or break moment for President Trump. He just leveled a pretty serious accusation against a former President. The ball is in his court now.

So then whose idea was the FISA warrant's?

They used a bogus excuse to try and then did get a FISA warrant for a fishing expedition that turned up nothing. But it did let them tune in to all of Trump's and the campaigns calls.

The next question was Hillary's campaign similarly ease dropped on, or was any intel of value passed on the Podesta and Panneta?

This all stinks to high heaven and here is where a special prosecutor is needed.

According to official, wiretap can’t be directed at US facility, without probable cause the phone lines were being used by agents of a foreign power.

This is the same lie that James Clapper and others told Congress. A lie, that was exposed by WikiLeaks and Snowden, among others. The US, may be recording EVERYTHING, and data mining it later. In the last goodbye to America, Obama increased the number of people with access to this classified intel.
This is the predictable result.
In ANY event, the Obama Democrats are alleging that “agents of a foreign power” were communicating with Trump, or his team, so why wouldn’t they get a FISA warrant, if they wanted to play it by the book? If the Democrats and the media, will take out of context the direct public testimony in Congress, why wouldn’t they spin secretly recorded conversations, in any way they want?

“No President can order a wiretap.”

That’s a ridiculous statement.

Of course people in powerful positions know how to get things done without giving direct orders.

They are masters at maintaining hands off deniability.

And it’s not as if Barack Obama didn’t regularly ignore laws and constitutional protections to do whatever he wanted while democrats cheered and chuckled and republicans watched the clouds roll by.

Obama didn’t need to give direct orders for actions like that.

He put people in place who knew exactly what he wanted done.

And they put people in place who knew how to carry it out.

But Obama claimed the Russians were interfering in the election.

Exactly! A very serious charge. A make-or-break moment for President Trump. Do you think our Prez would be so foolish to not know what you and I just said? He’s got to have the goods. Or he’ll never get another black vote in 2020.
I’m betting he’s got the goods Drew. Remember what Sessions said? He would recuse himself from any action that involved the Russians hacking or influencing our elections. That’s because Obama ain’t Russian.

Wait a minute you don’t think it’s possible that Obama might be at this very moment fabricating a Russian birth certificate? Well I think we could count on Putin to verify its authenticity don’t you?

The FISA thing is old news, and I don't know why Trump would bring it up again unless he has new information. But then, Trump is Trump, and who knows what he was responding to. he will look silly, though, if he has nothing to back this up.

One more thing: whatever Trump is talking about, "Obama" didn't do it, no more than "Obama" captured Bin Laden. I'd be shocked if anything could be personally traced to Obama. More likely, it was anti-Trump people in the FBI, CIA, or NSA, maybe operating with an implicit nod or wink from Obama or his inner circle, but nothing that could be traced or proven.

“...the FBI had concerns about a private server in Trump Tower that was connected to one or two Russian banks.”

Trump Tower is a mixed-use building. Who did this “private server” belong to, and where in the building was it?

Sounds like it might have been a fishing expedition.

...wiretap can’t be directed at US facility without probable cause the phone lines were being used by agents of a foreign power

Right. So Obama had the FBI or whoever did the tapping gin up a probable cause based on the bogus Russia thing.

It’s no doubt technically true that Obama himself didn’t order the actual tap, but please. Is this really going to be their defense? That he didn’t literally type the order or mash the buttons on his phone to make the call?

A little thin, I think.

He had his people compel the action at his direction or with his knowledge.

Now it’s going to come down to how many degrees of separation between Obama and the tap, and the validity of the warrant. So far the Dems haven’t been able to clinch the case for Trump’s Russia involvement. If they had the evidence they would have leaked it. But they don’t have it. Which is why the “evidence” has been limited to BS media stories based on hearsay.

Now we get down to the nub of it. The entire case against Trump WRT Russia is encapsulated in the wiretap warrant. This is the end game. And the fact that Obama’s people want to hand wave it away and laugh it off tells you the warrant probably won’t withstand scrutiny and will appear to be politically motivated.

Obama took the risk of forcing the warrant because he wagered that Hillary would win the election and the shaky warrant would be hidden. But he miscalculated and now the consequences come.

Or at least that’s how it looks at first blush.
