Barack and Michelle Close to Signing Record-Breaking Deal Worth Over $60 MILLION For Memiors
Daily Mail ^ | 17:49 EST, 28 February 2017 | Chris Spargo

Barack and Michelle Obama have whipped the literary world into a frenzy with the news that the former president and first lady are getting to work on new books, and looking for a publisher. Multiple people with knowledge of the joint publishing deal currently on the table for global rights to both memoirs tell the Financial Times that bidding has already surpassed $60million in what is described as the 'most hotly anticipated deal of the year.' And that amount could grow as there are no shortage of interested publishing houses, with Simon & Schuster, Macmillan, Harper Collins and Penguin Random House said to be interested in the deal. It is Penguin however who appears to have the slight edge, having published Barack's three previous titles.

There is no release date for either of the memoirs, but news of who will be securing the rights could come as early as Tuesday evening. That would mean the Obamas 'yuuuuge' deal might be announced just as President Trump prepares to address a joint session of Congress for the first time in office. There is also a chance however that it could take weeks to finalize the deal. No matter how long it takes however, no book deal has ever come close to paying an author this much money, with the closest example being the the $150million James Patterson reportedly received from Hachette in 2009 as part of a 17-book deal. That breaks down to a little less than $10million a book, as opposed to he $30million Barack and Michelle each stand to make in their deal.

Another way to look at potential domestic sales: 66 million people voted for Obama in 2012. If 5% of Obama voters bought the book at $20 per copy, that’s 3,300,000 people spending $66,000,000. Some of them will be high school and college students who have to buy it for a class, libraries, university departments, etc.

What do they get in return for the payola?

Even with a professional ghost writer, this project will take 2+ years. Who has confidence zer0 and the wookie will have any scrap of power or prestige in that time? The world will move on, likely at a breakneck speed and the political landscape will have changed drastically.

None of their followers can read, let alone possess the attention span to get through 100k words. Although, with the right font and margins, I guess they could get by with 50k words.

Reporter: “So, Mr. Obama, now that your book is out, what do you think about your book?”

Obama: “Well, uh, uh, uh, I, I, I, I’m not sure, I haven’t read it yet.”

Still not profitable for the publisher. Half that revenue goes to the retailer.

Looks like the deal has been finalized:
“Publisher Penguin Random House announced Tuesday it will publish books by former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama.

The company has acquired worldwide publishing rights for two books, one from each of the Obamas. Terms of the agreement were not released, but the Financial Times reported on Tuesday that the auction for the rights to the books reached more than $60 million, citing people with knowledge of the sales process.”—politico.com

Just so you know, you are posting to a self-confessed moonbat and Obama-lover from Fogbow. She is swooning over the 60 million $ deal; she actually thinks the Obamas are worth it.

I don’t know one person who would spend good money for a book by either one of those two miscreants.

They get a former President that will do their wishes.

Like the Clintons who got jump started with their book deals.

Obama has always been paid off with book deals, since law school.

I can understand that they believe this will happen. What real power does a former POTUS really have, especially in an era, such as the current one, where a sea change is occurring?

Can zer0 direct contracts and grants to anyone? Well, he has money and can dole it out as he pleases, but what profit is there in paying for such patronage? Seems it costs lot, a long period of time lapses between bribe and return.

Bribing a Secretary of State, wife of a former POTUS, designated POTUS-in-waiting, makes more sense. She can influence entire industries. But then, again: she seems, IRL, to compete with other corporations to her own benefit, despite being bribed.

Admittedly, I’m still naive. But a relatively few people provide the $60M. I’d be interested in seeing how such patronage actually pays off for them.

I’ve had a small book published with an advance. The accounting for the next several years always was manipulated so that there was never anything over the advance. This was a How To book designed to move a craft product and there was also competitive responses from sales staff looking for their own commissions. Basically, the author was paid for the idea and the projects, expected to demonstrate in order to drive sales and royalties never materialized. A different situation, but one needs massive sales to generate royalties in excess of the advance.

Obama gets money to start his march back to power. Not presidential power, leftist totalitarian fascism power. We live in a world that is going in that direction and the out group will be white Westerners.

Obama is going to pull the leftists together to gain control, not of the US, since he doesn’t really see borders, but of the leftists of the world, to unite and kill. He is a protégé of the worst of the left. He will attempt to prevail, and as a Soros puppet he will have unlimited funding.

The Wookie and the Transgender President will try to write more than one liners?

This is going to be comically interesting.

60 million dollars about to go down the toobs.

I wonder if Obama will preen himself over his destruction of
Liya, a US ally, and how he committed water source destruction genocide against thousands of Libyans by destruction of the 8th Wonder of the Woreld in Libya, “The Great Man Made River” greening of the Libyan desert project.

Oh how it is to laugh. Who wants to read his self serving pap , an attempt to put a rosy, fake Nobel Peace Prize glow on this idiotic, supercilious, liberal fascist tool?

Maybe the Wookie will write about how she was jealous of how her transgender hubby bent over for Putin in his open mike moment.

Or mabe she will write about how he lied and now continues to lie to America: “If you want to keep your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”

I won’t be reading anything the ba$tard writes, thank you very much. Who wants to pay to read lies?
