Target reported sales and earnings that missed Wall Street's expectations on Tuesday, in what was a disappointing holiday quarter for the big-box retailer. At the same time, the retailer issued an outlook for fiscal year 2017 that fell well short of analysts' expectations.
Here's how the company did:
—EPS: $1.45 per share, excluding items, versus $1.51 per share expected by Thomson Reuters analysts' consensus. —Revenue: $20.69 billion versus $20.7 billion expected by Thomson Reuters. —Same-store sales: A decline of 1.5 percent versus the 1.4 percent decline expected by FactSet.
A year earlier, Target earned $1.52 a share on $21.6 billion in revenue. The retailer's sales decline is partly attributable to the sale of its pharmacy business to CVS in December 2015. That pressure, however, is not the only reason the discounter is struggling to keep up with Wal-Mart.
The company's shares fell 12 percent in premarket trading.

Good. And not tired of winning. Neither I nor my children step foot in there any more (I cannot say the same for my husband). In 2015 we spent at least $1000 on Christmas shopping there. In 2016, we spent zero.

I think you’re right. People that boycotted them for their idiotic and dangerous policies have found other places to shop. They are not coming back, ever. I agree a policy reversal would just anger a fair portion of the snowflakes that are patronizing their business. I’m not sure they make it back, I think there is a pretty good chance this is a terminal dive.
I wasn't aware of any to-do with the Salvation Army. But Target's profits are probably down $50 because I haven't been to one since they decided dirty old men (like moi) could follow little girls into their bathrooms.
As for the Salvation Army and other charities looking for donations outside stores where I shop. I don't like them. I don't like the guilt trip.

I still go to Target but not to shop. I sneak into the women’s bathrooms when nobody is looking and put all the toilet seats up. ;o)

The list of their sins is extensive. I dumped them over 5 years ago when they bought in completely to the homo agenda.

I said the same thing, but I was waiting for my Uber ride at the mall last week and it started raining very hard. Target was the closest store, so I stepped inside to keep dry until my ride showed up.
I learned 2 things that day:
1. Never say “never”,
2. Target is not completely worthless. It’s a perfectly good bus stop in a rainstorm.

Target is not going to change policies as in the short term that would cause protests... I recently bought a $10 Target gift card for $5 on Groupon ... they are literally buying customers by giving away free goods.
