"President Donald Trump's nominee for Navy secretary, Philip Bilden, has withdrawn his name from consideration.
Bilden said in a statement he informed Defense Secretary James Mattis of his decision."...

They are. Because they are successful, many don’t want to give up a lifetime of work to do a job for 3-4 years.
He couldn’t satisfy “government ethical standards” yet THIS VERY MINUTE THERE ARE EX-FELONS IN CONGRESS! (Bobby Rush of IL)
From Wikipedia:
Rush’s own apartment was raided in December 1969, where police discovered an unregistered pistol, rifle, shotgun, pistol ammunition, training manuals on explosives, booby traps, an assortment of communist literature, and a small amount of marijuana. Rush was imprisoned for six months in 1972 on a weapons charge, after carrying a pistol into a police station.
It is so rare that a successful business person is asked to fill a government position, like this man!
“In the statement Bilden, a financier, cited his financial holdings as the reason, saying After an extensive review process, I have determined that I will not be able to satisfy the Office of Government Ethics requirements without undue disruption and materially adverse divestment of my familys private financial interests.
The vetting as he noted could harm his family’s private financial interests.
How about Jim Webb again?
The only folks who can survive the scrutiny imposed on candidates for high office are unqualified for the job.
Jim Webb—absolutely. A man of honor and experience.
That may be the state reason he is withdrawing but I’d put money on not wanting his family dragged through the dirt and harassed by the commie left is in there somewhere.
Hindu muffin?
(that might be slightly off....)
They come and they go. Mny have bad background problems. We will have an awesome Secretary of Navy SOON!! And we may Nuke North Korea. i HOPE SO.
I was thinking the same thing...
I agree with your assessment 101%. You took the words right out of my mouth.
Plus, the nominee was an accomplished businessman, and that's a no-no in these upside-down times.
The way things are going, successful business people, especially if they are multi-millionaires, will no longer be asked or will want to fill these critical appointments.
Government appointees will be filled by homeless people, poor folks on welfare, single mothers, elderly, handicaps, discriminated-against minorities, community organizers, helpless chilluns, transgenders....and professional politicians.
No more class distinctions in cabinet appointments in the brave new egalitarian world !

Makes sense.
Definitely a possibility.
Not so easy. If this guy has ties to China and other countries, and can’t undo them, it does create a conflict of interest. We need people who are purely American, not building up the industry of countries like China and India.
Good pick, but I wonder if he’d really be interested? “Been there, done that” kind of thing.
Only the ones they don’t like. Everyone else is free to insider trade and line their pockets.
Ah, Ziva, best character the show ever had, and the most screwed over actress (Cote de Pablo) in the history of the show.
And... That’s why obamoa had so many czars in his administration. There wasn’t a single one of them who could pass the scrutiny. The rest of them that became secretary of “so and so” were all corrupt or compromised. President Trump tries and gets the best he can no matter who they are.
I'm surprised he hasn't been considered before now.

Another L.I.F.E.R. on Silver Star Lane is too cozy with the teets of the Regime Change Investment Club.
