Members of the media cheered during a screening of the racial horror-comedy film Get Out when the black protagonist murdered an all-white family one-by-one.
Conservative film critic Armond White reported the "all-media" audience's reaction on Friday, in his scathing review of the film in National Review.
The New York Film Critics Circle removed White from its group after he allegedly made insulting comments about black director Steve McQueen during an annual awards ceremony. He called McQueen an embarrassing doorman and garbageman, according to Entertainment Weekly.
White compared the film's director Jordan Peele, of Comedy Central's "Key and Peele," to President Barack Obama in how he handled racial tension.
"In Get Out, just as Obama did, Peele exploits racial discomfort, irresponsibly playing racial grief and racist relief off against each other, subjecting imagination and identification to political sway," White wrote.
White complained that Get Out used "trite post-racial' ironies' that protected Obama, and cites one of the main character's comments about the former president.
"The comedy side churns out trite post-racial' ironies that have defined political humor for the past eight years (protecting and defending former president Obama) and that now threaten to continue in bizarre guises like this. Rose informs Chris that her parents (Bradley Whitford and Catherine Keener) would have voted for Obama a third time if they could,'" he wrote.
Lol. Probably not.
dome = some
If you mean the new movie "Django," directed by Étienne Comar and starring Reda Kateb, it's box office is so poor I can't find even a hint of data on it.
I also can't find any theaters that are showing it.
It must be an utter turkey, direct-to-DVD loser.
Movie about blacks killing crazy white family is so laughable.
Get updates on Chicago:
Fine. Blacks/liberals/media are doing nothing but widening the gap between blacks and all non-blacks. It’s going to bite them in the long run. We’re already suspicious of them anyway, and they’re doing nothing to remedy that.
It was technically called Django Unchained and starred Jamie Foxx. Also closely connected with Quentin Tarantino who skis his own slope it seems.
Clayton Bigsby? That was one damn funny skit!
As presented in Wikipedia, the family deserved to die in the cliche horror movie final justice. If it didn't have the racial overtones it would be a typical horror movie.
How bout a spoiler tag? s/
Whatever one’s opinion of Dave Chapelle is, his stuff was funny.
Yes....
He as said publicly he is an American only by accident of birth, and for legal purposes.
I don’t go to the movies. I like to read, though, so I go to a site called The Movie Spoiler. They have people who write full-length spoilers for movies pretty much as soon as they are released. So, I read any movie I might want to know about. This one is up already. It seems like an old style horror/sci fi movie with the added racial aspect. It was totally unnecessary for the story.
Here’s a review/celebration of the movie with another critic’s own racist glee:
BY ALAN SCHERSTUHL
Jordan Peeles Get Out is the most trenchant studio release in years, a slow-building, often hilarious horror thriller built upon a dead-serious idea: that a black man walking alone through white suburbs is in as much danger as any slasher-flick teenager. Peele opens with that image, showing us, in a long and tense single take, a young man making his way down a sidewalk at night, studying the interchangeable homes for an address. A car eases up behind him, moving too slowly, and the revelation a sick joke you might choke on as you laugh is that Get Out needs none of the phantasmagoric trappings of its genre to terrify. Whats the usual restless spirit or chainsaw maniac got on a paranoid white dude with a concealed carry?
Hollywood scare scenes and the developers of suburbs have long traded in the demonization of a figure that many white Americans, when speaking only to themselves, call the big scary black guy. For real, white folks, how often have you heard acquaintances or family members tell stories that turn on some version of that phrase? Its sometimes whispered or accompanied by an apologetic wince, the goal of which is to goad the listener into nodding along or otherwise exhibiting wrongheaded empathy: So Im walking back to my car and all of a sudden this here the speaker glances around big scary black guy comes up, but I just kept walking.
Peele has dared a radical inversion and hes enlisted all the power of popular genre filmmaking to do it. The first scene of Get Out casts the black man as the innocent victim, the cars presumably white driver as the malevolent force, the suburban street as the space that force haunts. One minute in, this movie that will play every mall in America makes it viscerally clear that its not black guys who are scary its neighborhoods packed with sheltered dopes who quake at the very thought of black guys...
Oh, I think it might.
I think it would make a GREAT movie to find out who put the post turtle into the WH and how. And it would be a lesson to us in how to prevent something like that from ever happening again.
There are so many theories out there. Most of them sound crazy. They can’t all be true, but I think one of the crazy theories is going to turn out to be true or at least mostly true.
I want to know who did it? CIA? Soros? the Russians? the Chinese? moslems?
What was on his BC that he was so desperate to hide? The place of birth? Race? Date? Parents? Or was there never a BC at all?
I want to know what his test scores were - SAT, LSAT or whatever else he took.
Yep, I’d go to the movie and/or read the book.
Sounds like paranoid racist hysteria to me.
White elites want to take over the minds of clean and articulate black people.
But then Invasion of the Body Snatchers was just about pea pods from space, right?
Further evidence that the Marxist/Muslim white/Jewish hater has caused division and hate in our country.
I have not seen the movie.
One reviewer thought it was making fun of white liberals. From that perspective,he thought it was good. The journalists must not have seen themselves being made fun of in the movie.
Rotten Tomatoes reviews are 100% positive. Is everyone scared to criticize a black movie?
If you want to see media content online legal and free, get a free app for You Tube (I downloaded from Amazon) and access the app on your computer or android device. I watch on my Kindle Fire 10 and laptop, many older movies, miniseries from decades past, History channel documentaries, Tucker Carlson and Greg Gutfield clips within a day of original broadcast, videos and performance clips from popular singers, etc. You Tube has occasional short commercials to pay for it, usually only at the start of the clip. Usually you can opt out of the commercials after a few seconds, sometimes you have to sit thru a 15 second or 30 second commercial, but since they target you based on browsing history, often it’s a commercial you might want to watch, like a promo for Christian films.
