The Chicago Police Department conducted a series of overnight raids from Thursday into Friday that resulted in 81 arrests, mostly for drug- and weapons-related offenses, Supt. Eddie Johnson said Friday.
The raids, focused on the city's South and West Side neighborhoods, were "focused on the underlying source of crime in these areas: the sale of narcotics," Johnson said at a press conference Friday afternoon.
Of the 81 people arrested, Johnson said 61 are previously convicted felons, 49 are documented gang members, 19 have previously been arrested on gun charges, 14 are currently on parole, and 65 have been previously identified by police to be at a higher risk to be a victim or offender of gun violence.
"There are repeat gun offenders that one, don't care they're on parole, two, don't care about the fact they're already previously convicted felons," Johnson said.
Police are still looking for 40 people targeted in the raids, and said another raid in the coming weeks will have federal assistance.

“The South Side of Chicago is the baddest part of town”
This is the way to turn people away from the liberal maniacs....one neighborhood at a time.
With Trump putting a spotlight on the issue, Rahm is finally doing the right thing.
As far as I am concerned they should send a brigade of Marines into these neighborhoods and arrest every suspected gang banger on sight. Those on parole or out on bond are revoked. Those who can prove they are good little boys and behave and work or go to school are turned loose. Those that are incorrigible go to a special gang banger boot camp on Paris Island run by marines. That would be a start.
National Guard instead of Marines but otherwise ok w/me.
And 81 other thugs will move up to fill the spots.
Perhaps the Chicago political roaches don’t like the spotlight. The locals are getting real tired of being held hostage. The Ferguson Effect is for the moment a fading in the memory of the local libtards. It’s time to get back to business.
The problem will be the Fake News Reports and a new TV series that is trying to revive the BLM repression myth. I also see them already introducing fake news about the cause being “bigger and scarier guns” not drug gangs. BTW: Holder still needs to go to jail over his BATFE gun running program.
Strange, no mention of how many were illegal aliens
At least Rahm has hi priorities straight. He has more important things to worry about:
You would think he would at least pretend to be concerned but its like he really couldnt care less
Very possibly.
Interesting point. Wonder if rounding up the illegal alien gang members and either deporting them or jailing them would decimate the gangs and reduce gang crime.
“you better best beware of a cat named Leroy Brown”
I was going to post what you posted but you beat me to it.
That part of town has only gotten worse since Jim Croce wrote that song no matter how much money was poured into it.
That is why Trump needs to keep a spotlight on this — on the Democrats failures and clearly what the Democrats are doing in the crime ridden inner cities isn’t working.
This is a huge winner for Trump and the people in the inner cities who are in the middle of the war and it is a loser for Democrats.
Yup - Trump tweets out the problem and it puts the spotlight on those who are responsible for fixing it.
I sure hope they didn’t “profile” anyone!
Locking up these thugs is good, need more of it, and it can be done in a cost effective and saving way.
For example, I’d not spend any money on keys.
Trump should setup or add to a govey website that spotlights Rat “successes” in the big cities, show trends in crime, finances, etc.
“Trump effect or not, it is way overdue. “........
Draining the corruption swamp, one neighborhood puddle at a time. Lets see how much effect it has in the coming days, should it work, spread all over this country and do it again and again. Time to take this country back.

Did they catch Bad Bad Leroy Brown?
