"I pee with LGBT."
That's the slogan adopted by a campaign against Texas Senate Bill 6, a relatively simple piece of legislation which would accomplish three straightforward objectives:
Pretty unassuming and even-handed stuff. Yet, from the response by critics, you might think Texas was plotting the televised execution of cross-dressers.
The Texas ACLU put out a ridiculous ad calling upon supporters of the LGBT community to protest the bill by "taking a seat [to] take a stand," which seems to mean making use of the opposite gender's bathroom facilities as a form of protest. As protest tactics go, this seems particularly ludicrous. Who is your audience in the bathroom? Plus, if the point is to affirm the absurd belief that men can be women by thinking it so, how does marching into the women's restroom as a non-transgender demonstrate solidarity? I thought the point was that women are made so by their feelings. If so, shouldn't men who feel like men stay out of the women's room? It's all very confusing.
Of course, reason has never had a seat at the transgender table. Many of the same people who label conservatives "deniers" for questioning the veracity of anthropogenic global warming will openly reject basic biology as applied to gender identity. We can argue whether a few degrees difference in global temperature is best attributed to carbon emissions or solar activity, but shouldn't need to argue whether a penis makes you a man. If the latter claim seems controversial to the Left, allow me to suggest that they're the deniers.
That said, the Right doesn't get off scot-free on this issue. The fear and paranoia surrounding transgenders in restrooms ignores a couple crucial probabilities. First, though it may come as some surprise, chances are good that you've peed next to a transgender person already. They aren't waiting in the wings with their knees crossed, hoping for changes in corporate policy or state statute before whizzing where they please. They're in your bathroom right now. You don't notice, because you damn well shouldn't. The business attended to in restrooms rarely involves interaction with others, and few people enter with the intention to make a statement.
Second, if a sexual predator wants to prey upon your daughter in a public restroom, they likewise aren't waiting for changes in policy to enable them. A 2015 Campaign for Houston ad, which urged voters to reject an ordinance which would have mandated accommodation of transgenders in the restroom of their choice, ends with a depiction of a grown man entering a stall with a young girl trapped inside. Few seem to ask themselves what would logically happen next in that scenario, with or without laws governing bathroom designation. Either way, the girl is trapped in the stall with a man. Unless we're going to staff restrooms with security guards or police officers, the practical security of anyone using a restroom remains the same regardless of policy.
It's another slippery slope.
Not too long ago businesses had the right to refuse a business transaction that violated their religious principles too.
It should be “what one feels, not how one feels”!
One’s sex is what the “Hardware is, not the Software”!
It’s an effective distraction.
I actually don’t believe anybody has a right to be anything they want. If so I want to be 8 years old when I enter a movie so I can get the lower ticket price and I want to be 65 when I ride a bus. There should be a don’t ask don’t tell policy. If I can’t tell you are a man than do what you have too. But if you are taking off all your clothes, I can tell.
That is reasonable, and presumably it is what the author had in mind. However, that is not consistent with the laws/policies that are being enacted and/or repealed with such haste.
And be in the same hotel room with the opposite sex on a work-required trip, or with other students on a school trip ...
[[First, though it may come as some surprise, chances are good that you’ve peed next to a transgender person already.]]
The problem with this straw man irrelevant argument is that now our women are forced to pee next to PERVERTS and RAPISTS and PEDOPHILES who now have complete unhindered access to our women and children either-
Transgenders kept their identities secret- and were NOT bold about their use of women’s bathrooms before because they faced being exposed as violating a women’s RIGHT to reasonable sense of protection before this disgusting law was passed allowing men to use women’s bathrooms- now that the law is passed- it criminalize those that now wish to prevent perverts from using women’s bathrooms instead of criminalizing perverted men who want to use the bathrooms for their sick pleasure—
This isn’t just an issue abut mentally sick individuals who convince themselves they are the opposite gender- it is about allowing ALL men- perverts, pedophiles the ‘right’ to use a woman’s bathroom- That should be very concerning to those who claim that it’s ‘no big deal’ or claim it ‘doesn’t affect other people’
Now shoudl it- see my video above- Transgender people are NOT all ‘nice people who keep to themselves’ Many are mentally sick in the head- and many were abused as kids, and in turn become abusers in their adult lives- but their small group isn’t even the most serious problem, it the facft that now perverts of ALL stripes are allowed free access to our nation’s women and children in confined areas that used to be fairly safe, to the best of our ability to protect women and children- because the law PREVENTED Sick men from being allowed i n their legally- now our women and children don;t even have that basic level of protection anymore!
Walter is confused.
Exactly right. The author of this dreck is a fool.
The threat here lies in the Stalinesque destabilizing of what is regarded as "normal." By pushing boundaries on "normal", you can eventually justify much worse behavior.
Niothing
Indeed. It is instead societies duty to refuse to indulge behavior inconsistent with reality.
A more accurate statement with one picture than all the paragraphs of blather in the original post.
It truly is sick, and I know if I see a guy going in where my teen daughter is, my wife is then he will be confronted .
“remember the good old days when it was men or women”
Thanks. That’s one I’ll add to my “I remember when a phone was a phone and coffee was coffee” anecdote.
And that has happened.
It is indeed a threat.
The good old days used to have state run mental institutions for sick people too. Then the left decided to "mainstream" depravity and foist the sick onto normal society. Now monsters roam freely and we are expected to cater to their insanity.
To me it is a matter of a biological woman’s right to privacy. Having raised a house full of girls this is an important issue to me.
These people are not new. They have always been there. And some have been peeing in the girls bathroom all along. You don’t dress up as a girl and then pee in the guys bathroom. Now you may want them all gone. Sorry that is not happening. You can’t get rid of them. You can’t stop them from dressing like a girl. And frankly I am not sure I want them in the boys room.
I go back to my first statement. I don’t care about this. Its always been there. And it has not been a big problem.
